LeBron James- Best player in the NBA

  • LeBron, in these playoffs, has played on a different level than any other player, including Dirk. He is having a lot more fun than he ever would in Cleveland. Looks like he made the right call after all...

    chucktcock

  • Disagree. Dirk has been on a much higher level. Dallas will take LeCon down in 6 games.

    Phatcock

  • Offensively, probably the same level, but LeBron shut down the MVP.

    chucktcock

  • Dirk has been better offensively. He is shooting over 50% from the floor and 3pt line, and almost automatic with FTs. James is playing great defense but the Bulls just dont have any legit 2nd option to Rose. Mavs have more depth, experience, much better shooters, and home court advantage.

One problem: Lebron is the best player on the planet, one of the best defenders and a top three closer. Dallas stands no chance against him, Wade, Bosh and Udonis; aka Ledonis Wash. The Mavs are old and decrepit with a 38 year old PG, a 32 year old 3.5 that can't play defense, and if you try to argue that Juan Jose is a game changer, just wait till he tries to enter the paint against El Enfuego. Dirk can score out the wazoo, yes. But Lebron will lock him down and challenge all of his shots. El Enfuego will run the Mavs to death and will win in five. Mark it down.

You may be right about the team winning, im just saying I think LeBron is playing better than all, with obviously, as you stated, a lack of depth and experience. He has basically just stepped up his game like a star should. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, so i respect yours.

I thought this was a sarcastic post. Derrick Rose is MVP for a reason. The Mavs have atleast 2 future hall of famers and are clicking on all cylinders...you cannot tell me the heat would have swept the lakers. Mavs winning it all, mark it down.

The real USC is the one that didn't finish in the top 25. The real Carolina is Academic Fraud U. South Carolina back to back Top 10. Got it.

  • Looking forward to LeBron vs Dirk Diggler and who steps up down the stretch as both have been killer closers.

James will have ample opportunities to win championships, this may be Dirk's last chance...and one to exercise the demons of blowing it against the same franchise a few years ago.

  • I can't wait either. This Heat team can beat you at your own game. They can out offense you and they can out defense you. You keep getting contributions out of Miller and Haslem and they are a really good team. The Mavs have more offensive firepower and they will hit those open shots.

Dirk has been good this postseason, but he hasn't been good on both ends of the floor and he isn't a guy you can put on the other teams best player.

Both conference series aren't over, but it looks pretty bleak for the Thunder and Bulls. Very interesting finals matchup.

    97srad750

  • Who covers Dirk for the Heat? Surely not Chris Bosh, he would foul out by half time. They don't really have anyone that has the size and speed to put on Dirk that would give him any problems.

As a Mavs fan I want the Heat in the finals. They are much better matchup as they are not a very big team and will not control the boards. The Heat are great defensively, but they are not dominant on the offensive end. They have dominant players but for some reason haven't really turned their game into an up tempo dunk fest like you would expect with Lebron, Wade and Bosh.

I think it is the Mavs time and I think they beat the Heat in 6 or less.

  • They haven't turned it into an uptempo dunkfest because they are playing a great defensive team.

Lebron can cover Dirk, certainly better then anyone that has defended him so far in the playoffs. I suspect they'll be several people covering him including Bosh. Dirk is going to get his, but they won't come as easy as they have against the Thunder.

The Heat were a better rebounding team then the Mavs without Haslem, adding him makes them that much better.

    97srad750

  • The Heat has no bench. If the mavs can successfully get Bosh, Le BoBo or wade in foul trouble, they can take them easily.

The Bulls have to make some moves in the off season. Boozer is a part time player and has to go. They need a more serious second scoring threat than Kyle Korver.

    Trooperdel

  • You don't need a big bench in the playoffs. The playoffs is when you shrink the bench. Adding Haslem was huge.

No. Z-Bo played at a higher level. Lebron has way more talent around him. Of the 4 teams left? That argument can be made, although I'm not sure it is clear cut between he and Dirk.

He closed the game on Rose(who had played the entire 2nd half and OT). I'd bet that if Lebron tries to guard Rose for the entire game 5, Rose will figure him out and get his.

Lebron and his pals are also getting ref help. Case and point - Deng pump faked him(LJ), he didn't leave his feet, Deng jumps into him and it's a foul on Deng. Later in the game, Wade does the EXACT same thing to Brewer and it's a no-call. Lebron initiates contact with defenders regularly, and rarely gets called on it. I was shocked when they called the push-off on him at the end of regulation. That's a regular move of his as well.

  • LeBron being the best player in the NBA is laughable, he's not even the best player on his own team.

    Trenchtown Cock

  • If you were picking one player to lead your team it would be Lebron no doubt. He can do it all and in my opinion still getting better. The heat finally have what they thought would be their team all year and will be tough to beat. Dirk is great on offense and I mean great but when compared to all Lebron can do, its not even close. And if they win it this year, they could rattle off several championships in a row.

Let's just say they held a draft tomorrow with every player. Who do you think most GM's pick?

your right on that one, but I just don't believe him to be the best, I like D Wade better simply because he has more of a killer instinct, I trust the ball in his hands when I need it most over putting it in LeBron's hands

That's not really based on reality either, certainly not on these playoffs or this season in general.

these playoffs are an exception, but the general theory based on facts from the past is absolutely true

No it isn't. Wader was 0fer for the season in the situations you suggested. Here is a link up through 09. And even if what are saying is true, you argument originally was Lebron isn't the best player on the team. Robert Horry nailed many last second shots, but he was never the best player on his team. Same goes for Fisher.
