Maybe he just has alot of potential on that side of the ball...nothing wrong with a little reluctance. You know steve likes his toys, but the cupboard is hardly bare at TE.

The number one takeaway from this article is the young mans team-first mentality. Love to hear those kinds of things out of the players.

Don't know it for a fact, but it sounds and looks like to me that the coaches may be using some "Jedi" mind tricks with him as well. I think they are trying to make him feel very special and needed, but to me he is already on board. Like someone else said, you can really sense a "team" attitude not a "me" attitude.

I think he would be great in that role too but I think a backup LB sees the field more. I think Owens could be our best blocking TE and could do it too. Also its amazing how our team took the next step when we got more character guys. Reading this interview and listening to Shaw and Thompson after the game these kids are all team first. SOSs first few teams these types were few and far between. Guys like C Mathews laid the foundation and this group the last three years have taken it to another level. When we arent pushing for a prospect ive got a pretty good feeling why.

He could always switch back to TE in the near future, it's not like he is locked in if he makes the switch this season.

Actually, not having any linebackers would get the offense back on the field faster... Albeit 7 more points down as opposing teams cut through our defense like a knife through hot butter.

Not if they are bleeding us slowly with short gains, which is what I was picturing. If we had no corners, it might get the offense back on the field faster due to big plays down field. But I think we will be solid up front and in the back end (if Hampton is back), so what I worry about is a lot of short stuff in the passing game to offset our rush and alot of 5-10 yard runs with DBs having to make tackles.
