Given the way I initially posed my position, yours is a fair question. To restate my position in a way that more accurately reflects my disposition, I would not be upset at all, if Hyman was not inclined to hire Marshall. Likewise, I would not forego supporting the program, if Marshall was hired.
Given the criteria that I've repeatedly seen presented ("...he's won everywhere he's been."), I believe there are other candidates that meet that criteria and have competed in environments that are more akin to the requirements and the rigors of USC. Winthrop and Wichita St. may have a great deal more latitude in admitting the types of athletes that have been the foundation of Marshall's success. Such is not the world in which we (USC) competes. Also, being acquainted with some of his former assistants, outside looking in, is not the same as, inside, looking out.
My sentiment is not so much an anti-Marshall sentiment, as much as it is an expression of my belief that there are equally good, if not better options out there. Admittedly the wildcard is he is from SC, but so is Ty Corbin (not saying Ty is even a viable option, but...).
