McEvoy arrested, suspended

  • Michael1 said...

Not a NC lawyer, but I am a NC resident and there is a "zero" tolerance policy her in NC. I heard he blew .02, but he needs to get an attorney familiar with the underage consumption of alcohol laws here in NC. I don't think you can get a "prayer for judgment" anymore. You cannot afford to drink at all if you are underage her in NC. If you blow .01, you will be charged.

It goes down another decimal point or two, also...

    .001? ARRESTED.

So in NC it's against the law to drive if you have consumed "any" alcohol? They need to install ATM's in the police cars and park outside every restaurant, football game, Episcopal and Catholic Church,........

Sure as sunshine, we're going to see at least one post like this any time a Gamecock player gets arrested.
I didn't see anyone here questioning the drug laws after Sammy W. was stopped. (Although there was plenty of that on the Clemmers' messageboards, I'm sure.)

  • Spurrier is pretty level headed about things like this. I'm sure he'll dole out the appropriate punishment, nothing more, nothing less.

Pretty sure SC has same law but the threshold is like .02 or something like that.

    You aren't gonna bl

My son was charged just two months before his 21st birthday. He blew .02 The law says ZERO tolerance for those under age.
    .
At 20 years, 10 months, I gave him a pass. The cops called me, I went to the site while they were still writing him up and the cop, who I knew, wouldn't cut me any slack and my son got charged. I managed to get a plea because he was so close to 21 and he wasn't anywhere near drunk, but the cop protested and made a big deal out of it.
    .
Three years later, that cop was fired from the force for throwing a party and supplying beer to minors. MFing hypocrite. I made a point let him know how happy I was. I think he's selling used cars now.

  • If he was so close to 21, why didn't he wait the 2 months? Oh, probably because he'd been drinking for years and just never been caught. Got it.

Yeah, please actually read the article before commenting. If you're under 21 and have any alcohol in your system while driving, you get charged. Because, get this...ITS ILLEGAL TO DRINK WHEN YOU'RE UNDER 21! Hard concept for most people, I know.

Let's see. This is a hard concept for me to warm up to. At the age of 18, you can:
    1. Vote for President of the United States
    2. Be married, be a grown a$$ man, have children and pay income tax.
    3. You can be given the Death Penality for a serious crime.
    4. Sent to Iraq or Afghanistan as a soldier and be killed.
Really? But you can't drink a beer? Doesn't compute to me.
I don't promote or excuse DUI. He had a beer. Get a freakin life!

    Gamecock Phil

  • Tell you what, homey, once someone you know dies because of a drunk driver, feel free to come back and tell me how you feel about ANYONE having a beer and then getting behind the wheel.
Making a list of things you can do at 18 doesn't allow someone to break another law. That's like saying "Hey, I can drink, vote blah blah blah at 21, how come I can't run for President?!?". That's the law - "get a freakin life!".
The bottom line is this - if you know its against the law, and you do it anyway, man up and face the consequences of getting caught. If you can't do that without complaining, then you're obviously not mature enough to drink in the first place.

Ridiculous. I'm sorry you lost someone to a drunk driver, but that not what the kid did. Why make this into a big deal?
