Mel Kiper is a moron

  • Just released his latest 2 round mock draft. Melvin going #9 to Jacksonville and Gilmore going #21 to the Bengals. However, Alshon is nowhere to be found in either round. He's got Brian Quick (who?) from App St and AJ Jenkins from Illinois going before Jeffery. What a joke.

  • This whole 'he's fat and slow' thing has gathered so much momentum that even our fans on this sight are buying it, though. Everyone suddenly forgets that after Nunn went down, Shaw would get drilled in the earhole literally every time he tried to look down field to pass.

    Even before Shaw, remember Auburn? They sacked us six times, I think, and they only had like three sacks on the season before that game. Can't throw it when D-linemen are face-planting you.

    It may have been just a mistake on his part. After Alshon's pro day Mel commented that Alshon had really helped himself and was back in 1st round consideration. He deals with agents and does promote certain players at different times. I think the one concern remaining with alshon is his work ethic.

    Sure, he got off the weight for the combine and pro day, but I think some are still skeptical. Even with all of that, I'll be surprised if someone doesn't draft him at the bottom of the 1st.

    Ha, was thinking about that today when I first saw this mock draft. I always notice that and get disappointed each time his best available isn't called at the podium.

    Mel,Do you think Alshon Jeffery's Pro Day, especially his 4.47 40 time, helped get him back into the first round of the draft?

    I've heard as good as 4.42. He weight 212, the lightest he's been since high school. That helps him. That solidifies a second round grade for him. You have to see what his best body weight will be once he gets the pads back on.

    I have no proof, but I'd say it's safe to assume he's connected to certain agents/schools, considering this was a week ago and no receivers have had better pro days since AJ.

    Also, "solidified a second round grade" is hard for me to believe. I'm no pro scout, but if those numbers only solidify a second round grade, the NFL is in horrible shape with it's current GM's.

    What????Mel called Alshon "fat and slow" , the only difference is that Mel's comments may actually cost Alshon a great deal of money.
