Melvin Ingram........

  • These guys cannot stop talking about him. He is freakish in the cone and dummy drills. On the cones, they replayed MI6's performance a couple of times as they gushed over his athleticism.

  • MI6 was in our program 5 years...maybe some of the other guys who think about coming out early in the future will think about staying...probably would benefit them. I can see Lattimore coming back after next year.

Agree with you on all points. I, too, think Lattimore comes back for his last season.

If he has a good season it would be advisable for him not to come back. RBs are very expendable now in a pass happy NFL and only a rare few can perform into their early 30s. You're playing for 2 contracts so the younger you are for your second one the better. I hope he has a good enough year that we're concerned about him leaving.

That's why I thought it was crazy that Andre Ellington came back for a 5th year. He'll be 24 when he enters the draft next year. That will be kryptonite for him no matter how well he plays in 2012.

its certainly not an easy decision...I think spurriers theory is right on re: this with an exception for rbs.. if you can get a 3rd round grade i think you should go. You only have so many carries in you but in andres case, he obviously thought he needed to come back to improve his stock

  • These guys gushing (rightfully) over MI's abilities are making him a lot of money. I'm very happy for him... I've been high on him since I saw his HS highlights.

  • The guy is one hell of an athlete. I am just curious if we overlooked his skills his entire career at USC or whether he just didn't blossom until this year. Wasn't he injured for part of his career here? What do you all think?

He's a guy who had an early injury in his career and because of his unique combination of athleticism, strength and size we had a tough time trying to figure out where he would have the most success. I think it worked out exactly how it should have, and I think MI6 would agree.

  • He came in as an LB, and was the upback on kickoffs. I remember him returning several kickoffs. He would always be throwing passes to wideouts and covering receivers during practice, wanted to be an offensive star, or a skill position, though I hate that term( do some positions not take skill?). He was behind Sapp and somebody else his rs fresh yr. Then his soph yr, he injured his foot. He resisted putting his hand in the dirt before that. He realized how good he could be his junior year when he started terrorizing qb's. Was not an attitude or work ethic thing, he was just always working on other things besides lineman things his first couple of years. It did turn out ok for him, didn't it?

Ingram started at LB but had trouble keeping his weight down. From day one they were worried whether he would be able to stay at LB because he was getting so big. Unique combination of size, strength and speed.

  • It's really great to see MI6 getting all the love he deserves! He is also the most personable guy out there. He has made the transition from tweener to freak with those who haven't witnessed as we have. Gotta love his confidence that he looks at every opportunity to go out against the competition and show them up.
