Mizzou's board of governors unanimous.....

  • on the move toward leaving the big 12.

  • I think it's a foregone conclusion that they are SEC bound. The only quiestion may be alignment.

  • Yep, and so it begins...

on the move toward leaving the big 12.

Not quite. They gave the chancellor deaton absolute power to make decisions about conference realignment without further Board of Curators (as they call them) approval. In reality, that mean they did approve leaving B12 for SEC. They preempted critics who were crying they would leave kansas city in economic disaster by telling Deaton to plan a basketball tourney in KC and a football game in KC with a rival each year (Kansas?).

I expect process will take one more week. Then who does B12 go after?

  • "Then who does B12 go after?"

I think just about anybody with a pulse. There isn't a whole lot left. If they go for the teams that make geographic sense, ie. Houston and SMU, the conference smacks like the old SWC... if the go for BYU and Louisville it really stretches things geographically... The only thing for sure, in my mind, is they need to get to 12 teams to secure themselves as a legitimate, go forward conference.

The announcement also said the Big 12 would move very quickly to replace Missouri.

I believe the B12 is meeting again Tuesday.
