Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty
"Talking about history is a hurdle that prevents you from creating it" ---Ray Tanner
If this option was EVER in the mix he should have waited until he knew for sure either way. Don't get the fan base excited for your return just to let them down. That being said, I personally thought he should have stayed, and when he announced he was I really thought it was best for him. He is obviously one of the best punt returners in the nation and that will be the main thing our team next year will miss about him. He could have put up a lot better numbers next year at WR and improved his draft status. Why couldn't Ace Sanders put up 1,000 and 10? He has great hands and explosive speed. We just didn't throw it his way enough.
As for why I think he did go...
He probably realized that his main attraction to NFL teams was as a punt returner. It could be that if he returned next year he wouldn't have the same highlight reel of punt returns he had this year. His returns this year were just absolutely amazing. I could watch them all day, every day. Those returns are fresh in the minds. I hope he goes at least in the top 3. If he doesn't, he made a really poor decision.
