The only problem is, like it or not, agree with it or not, it's illegal and you cannot have a society that gets to choose what laws they obey and the ones they don't. But the biggest problem is nobody ever takes that first drink of alcohol and says " Man....I think I'll become an alcoholic and let this stuff ruin my life" Nobody ever smokes that first joint and says "Wow...this is great man..can't wait to this no longer gives me the "high" I want and I move on to other drugs and become so addicted I'll rob and steal for it"
I do jail ministry and I've seen it firsthand. Great guys...almost all of the started off with "harmless" things like alcohol and weed but moved to addictions that they cry like a bady to get rid of but just can't beat that animal.
Also seen it a way that no Father should have to... I lost my son at 26 to being addicted to that crap. Started off with that "harmless" weed his mom (my ex) gave him for his 14th birthday, then moved on to meth (her too). And that's for sure one drug that's hard to kick.
Now I know that everyone that drinks and everyone that smokes pot doesn't move to more dangerous drugs or get addicted...but like I said...do you thinks the ones that do planned it? They've sucked the life out of many a good man & woman, boy & girl. Just my .02

Your point is well taken and although I never lost a son, I've lost multiple friends under similar circumstances.

However, I disagree with this whole idea that because our government tells us we can't do something that it's wrong. I think that's garbage. it may in fact be law that we can't smoke weed. Doesn't mean I agree with it. I personally don't choose to smoke the stuff but see no reason that it should be illegal. If it's illegal you gotta outlaw alcohol. Way more dangerous and way more of a gateway drug than weed.

Think you also gotta consider outlawing tobacco. Way more tragic awful slow painful deaths from cigarettes than weed.

Think you also gotta outlaw french fries, cheese burgers and ice cream. If these things aren't addictive drugs then why do we have so many obese people in America who can't stop eating them?

This is coming. First steps are being put in place in the Health Care Pkg. We'll outlaw french fries but legalize pot. Sad

  • ya'll do realize that, and maybe Cockoracle can tell us the exact wording, but engaging in immoral acts with animals, and men doing the same with other men is illegal in South Carolina. The two are written into the same law. It says nothing about women doing things with women. So, there are some very dumb laws out there.

Also, it is not very specific as to what you can and can't do with animals, leaving one to wonder whether it is ok to finger a goat, but go no further. It only describes the acts illegal if they are something like 'despicable', I forget the exact word.

This vague language is probably how the Clemmers get away with it on a regular basis. "It's only despicable if it's someone else's sheep...."

Exactly correct. Not only have I lost students/players to things it's obvious some feel are absolutely harmless, but my wife is a counselor in a facility that specializes in these issues, and 2 things I can tell everyone, it's a huge problem as laws are written now, and she has plenty of job security, and they have a hard time keeping up with both the new and repeated people who either get sick and tired of the paranoia and being sick and tired, or that lose their jobs, driver's license, etc. and are forced to go to try to get them back.

Pot and alcohol are 2 key "gateway drugs," and you're right, most people start looking for more potent and chemical laced marijuana, or feel the need to "graduate" to bigger and worse things. Probably going to be my last post on this thread, and I just want people to understand this is and has become a very serious subject for me, because I see directly the people it affects, and have seen some very tragic outcomes. Not only i terms of death, but expulsions from high school, college, scholarships stripped that were earned after years of hard work, only to be taken away in the blink of an eye. Not in any way trying to get personal or attack those of differing opinions, just know that it is very personal in my life, unfortunately.

Not attacking anyone. Stating my opinion on the subject. I'm for more freedom and believe you should be able to put in your body whatever you damn well please, but you should have to face the consequences of doing so. I'm pretty confident that we're "allowed" by the government to put far worse things into our bodies than marijuana.

Laws were meant to be broken. People have been picking and choosing which ones they abide by all over the world. Our society's not screwed up because of this. Our society's screwed up because there are way too many laws, IMO. We have 5% of the world's population in America but 25% of the world's prisoners. Doesn't add up.
