I notified them already. They told me, and I quote: "when you get in the know i will listen to you until then shhh!". It was very hurtful.

I tried to tell them that there was a rule violation here, but before I got one syllable out, they yelled "Zip It!", I just zipped it and hung up.

And, if Marcus and Clowney were "all Gamecock", I bet the coaches would have liked to have known that, so Spurrier would not have had to do the cha cha with Marcus's mom, and we wouldn't have had to have three coaches spend and ungodly amount of time recruiting one guy in Clowney. The coaches wish they were as "in the know" as this guy.

Our coaches have worked very, very hard recruiting most of the players we have. To insinuate otherwise is an insult to all involved. Not to mention, it's untrue.

What do you think the reason Clemson has been able to get all these out of state 5 star kids to visit and we cannot seem to do this even though we have a better program

    paying their street agent.

SOS don't think he should beg kids to play for him and jr thinks the same way and stop going after 5 stars when they are still in the mix. RN had us in his top 5 last summer because he liked BL and the way he coached the dl. The guy who chose fla two years ago had us top of his list. We give up too early and take commits from kids we can get in nov and dec. The staff not all but SOS and JR don't like to go far in summer so they take commits and go on vaction. We as fans should do like the taters when kids come to campus the whole fan base talk to the kids and make them feel wanted.

    Nice story!

  • re SOS & recruiting. I don't think it's laziness or a lack of wanting to work at it as much is it simply not who he is...it's not his personality. If SOS TRIED this relentless/aggressive approach like "abo" uses, he would probably come off so disingenuous that it would actually be counter-productive. Would completely turn the kids off & push them AWAY from Carolina!! One of the reasons "abo" is such a successful salesman is that, deep-down, he fully & completely believes the sh** he's selling is 24K gold!! That makes it so much easier for the kid(s) to buy i it!! Most Head Coaches were once assistants who went up the ladder by being "tireless" on the practice field and/or the recruiting trail!! SOS never went that route. He was an offensive innovator who basically became a Head Coach 'cause he couldn't/wouldn't serve as an O.C. under anyone else!! There are usually trade-offs. Not too many Sabans out there!!

  • Easy answer: They are not actually 5 star caliber players. Just glorified softies who will get pounded against real competition.
