NCAA accepts self-imposed penalties

The NCAA accepted South Carolina's self-imposed penalties for NCAA violations and the school will not face any further restrictions.

  • Good job, JW. As is your style, you nailed it.

On another note, this is, in my opinion, another sign that USC is going in the right direction. Complete honesty, which is the HBC's style, along with an utmost respect for the rules, is one of Spurrier's greatest assets, and it paid off here.

  • Does anybody know how often the NCAA actually accepts a schools self imposed penalties? Seems a lot more often than not, extra penalties are tacked on. Sounds like we handled this situation about as good as we could have! Glad that it's behind us, and hope it doesn't happen again

  • Obviously this entire article was written in error or someone is being punked! It is an established fact, according to the KKKleanest Program in the NCAA (better known as Delusional U), that the hammer is going to fall and we will feel the wrath of the NCAA like no other school has ever experienced. NOT!!! Suck one, Taters!!!

  • Just wondering, where are all the posters that were bitching about Hyman hiring Chris Rogers............

USC hired Chris Rogers as its new compliance director, despite Rogers last overseeing the scandal-rocked program at Ohio State. . Last year, USC hired Judy Van Horn from Michigan, after she had received a letter of reprimand from the school due to an investigation into its football program.

Hyman, "I’m at peace with Judy Van Horn and Chris Rogers. I think we’re blessed to have those people. I just went up and hugged her today for guiding us through. It was very difficult for her to come in a situation like this - her plate’s full as is - but to turn around and give us the expertise and guidance to get us through this is remarkable. I tip my hat to a lot of people, but to Judy, also. "

So do the flamers now come out and admit that Hyman knew what the heck he was doing when he hired these folks?

  • Classic Post........somewhere Mike Honcho and Gamefool are smiling

Previously post on topic "Chris Rogers named Director of Compliance"

I think the NCAA Infractions Committee is laughing at this one right now. Talk about making a joke of the problem. What exactly were they thinking? This makes zero sense. Why get a guy that was the lead compliance officer from another school with issues? Is Hyman looking to get the book thrown at us? It's like getting Jack Daniels to be your AA sponsor. Please tell me this is a twisted joke played by Clemson.

Well I am a compliance officer for one of the largest banks in the US, and I can assure you, this is not a smart "PR" decision. He may be a great compliance director, but this is a PR NIGHTMARE.....

Was the guy who was in charge at Clempson from 1980 to 1990 not avaliable?!

Very true. He is excellent at covering it up. All the way back to Clarett. I like a guy who can bend the rules and cheat and cover up.

Unfortunately, just not when we are 10 days away from a hearing and 3 months from a verdict. Just after.

I am for hearing Hyman speak to legitimate concerns on the surface of hiring a guy from an institution that is as dirty as it gets. If this guy was clean then I'm for giving him a chance.
But another screw up in that department and Hyman should be gone. We spend a heck of a lot of money in that department and we hear of them in the negative to many times.

  • The reduction in scholarships will pinch some but the reduction in official visits shouldn't have much of an impact. We don't normally use all of our official visit.

    Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty

  • I took this out of the usatoday article I just read. Jay Bilas tweeted it. Are they just dead wrong?

The penalties for football will be phased in equally during the 2013 and 2014 seasons. The decision by the NCAA doubles the self-imposed sanctions of the school which were announced last December.

False, The only thing the NCAA changed was: we had proposed 1 schollie reduction this year, 3 next, and 2 the next. The NCAA changed it to none this year, 3 next, and 3 the next. That was the only thing the NCAA changed.
