Two big differences between SOS and the others on the list is that he has never cheated to win, and he has always been honest and straightforward with the schools, players, media, public, etc...

No wonder he's hated. He's the Evil Genius, Darth Visor, Steve Superior.
And he is the coach who has led the South Carolina Gamecocks to 9 straight victories over Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Clemson.

It's nice to have a football coach that is known outside of the county in which he coaches. Spurrier is like Saban and many other great coaches, fan bases hate them but would give anything to have them as their coach.

A lot of people seem to appreciate coach's honesty in the current world of rehearsed responses to the media. I don't think he should be #1. If Schlabach, a UGA homer, wrote that piece then it makes sense.
I don't see Spurrier surpassing Jimmy Johnson or Barry Switzer.
How did Nick Saban not make the list? Seriously.

Well said, & 100 % accurate... Though it's doubtful, if any of the coaches named on this list has any morals or decency about themselves, they know in their hearts that they would love to be exactly like Coach Steve Spurrier.

Dale Earnhardt once said he didn’t mind the booing because it meant at least he had gotten their attention. When they stop booing you.. then your not wining. That's a pretty good analogy for the HBC and college football fans.
