Need some info on Ohama/fathers day

  • Happy Father's Day to all you guys.

I'm thinking of taking my dad as a surprise for the Thursday game (after we beat Arkansas). It looks like flights out of Myrtle Beach are about 1k. Where should we stay? Where can we get tickets and any idea on how much per ticket? Any additional info that would be beneficial would be great. Recommedations for hotels, tickets flights are the main parts so I can plan and abuse the credit card. Restaurants or other things are great too. Obviously never been to Nebraska.

  • Flying into KC is much cheaper. You've got to rent a car anyway so save the money and drive the last 180 miles.

  • Accomodations in Council Bluffs will be cheaper. We stayed at the Courtyard on 10th about 3 blocks from the stadium. Rates were in the $300 a night range.
Tickets were plentiful around the stadium. You will have no issues finding them. Can't speak to the prices as I bought/way overpaid for seats thru Primesports. But there are scalpers galore.
Dining, just go to the Old Market place area. Tons of good options. The Drover is the steak joint everyone raves about. In my 2 trips I've never been.
One thing I'd do I'd you come is go to Rosenblatt. You can tour it from 10:00 or 11:00 until 2:00 each day. It's free. Sad but a good thing. Some cool memorabilia for sale too.

  • Doc, you might look into the Embassy Suites. Right in the heart of the Old Market, 12-15 mins walk to the stadium, and those great breakfasts !!

  • Cockfool is spot on. Tickets were everywhere yesterday. I overpaid as well because I wanted to be behind the plate.

I am staying at the Element Starwood. The Hilton last night was getting a whopping $508/night. In 2010 it was $196 as an example.

Plenty of hotels-price predicated completely on proximity to stadium.

Get out here! We gettin' that 3rd Ship'

  • My dad and I took the Kansas City route this year and it was very easy. 170 miles straight up I-29.

We stayed in the Hilton mainly because of the convenience factor and the fact that we would only be there for two nights.

As for tickets, we purchased through Flash Tickets and sat behind the Gamecocks' dugout about 15 rows up. We overpaid for sure, but that's less of an issue when, like us, you'll only be there for one game.

Fantastic trip. Gamecock fans all over the place and truly a great crowd last night. I've been to Rosenblatt before and miss that environment. However, the folks in Omaha have made TD Ameritrade into a great ballpark.

  • Just lost long post I wrote so short version is thanks for all the info guys. How much are tickets (range is fine) I see everyone thinks they overpaid but are we talking about 100 bucks or 500? I will check flights out of Florence (my hometown) and would tour the facilities.

  • I think we paid $95 per ticket plus whatever extra charges through Flash Seats (www.flashseats.com). They scan your drivers license or credit card at Gate 2 and then print out a ticket. It was definitely an easy way to purchase tickets but the selection for our game was limited.
