Taking marginal-at-best prospects who are friends with a big time prospect is not a great strategy because you i) don't know if the big-time prospect will ultimately sign with you and ii) if he will actually be anywhere near as good as his projection.

With that being said, if, knowing what we know now, it had cost us a couple scholarships to marginal friends to get Marcus Lattimore, I'd make that trade every time.

It's a risky move to be sure and one I'm glad our coaches don't seem to employ to the same degree as Clemson. Count me among those rooting for a signing-day switch.
