It was reported Antonio Allen has also knocked a tenth off of his 40 time.
The answers of nothing but football 24/7 may explain some of this.

he lost weight to address dumb nfl concerns and shave some 40 time off. After he gets paid he'll get back to his optimum playing weight, which is where he stayed while at USC.

My thing is we have a nutritionist, why can't he/she place a bigger emphasis on nutrition? Take Holloman for example he carries 240 well, but imagine him at 220 225. It's not like they would have to starve to death bc the amount of calories they burn is enormous. The nutritionist wouldn't be restricting them to say just salads, but instead say lets not get two double quarter pounders from Mcdonalds instead order two grilled chicken sandwiches. Just my 2 cents.

I don't believe everyone really understands the difference between having good meals prepared for the athletes at a school and having a nutritionist design a plan specifically for each individual. The school nutritionist can't tailor a plan each of a couple hundred athletes. That is completely unrealistic.
The difference is huge. I can't stress enough how much diet factors in to someone's shape. It's as important as working out for many folks.
He also has millions of reasons to make a concerted effort over 3-4 months to get in the best shape of his life.
Nearly every player is in better shape for the combine than they are during school. Almost every single one gets in better shape. It's not a conicncidence.

I do think the OP raises a legit opportunity for the coaches. They probably could do a little better job of selling pro football to the guys who can actually make it there. By selling pro football I mean letting the players know this is what NFL scouts will be looking at, and they'll look at your entire career from HS to college before deciding if thy want to pay you big bucks for a high draft pick.Character is what you do when no one else is looking.
