Note on Kight Dallas (Friday update)

I'm in Austin covering the Team USA games and I was told tonight that Kight Dallas will be going on an unofficial visit to Houston tomorrow.
The person who told me had this response when I asked if Dallas was still committed to South Carolina:
"Yeah... but it's whatever," the person said. "It is what it is, I guess. We'll see."
I'm going to double check with Dallas in the morning to see if the visit is still happening, but as of tonight that's the plan.

UPDATE: Dallas told me this afternoon that he's not going to be making the trip to Houston because he won't have time.
He said he's 100 percent committed to South Carolina, but told me he "might" take an official to Houston this fall.

I am sure he doesn't like the two LB in front of him. If true just drop him ASAP. We can use the space. He might be a good player what ever the coaches do but can't look good for a kid to go to Houston when committed to USC. He might just not feel the love and want a little attention.

He isn't even close to the other linebackers USC has committed or that any other SEC school has committed.

I would bet our coaches are doing just enough recruiting of knight still to not seem as though we are flat out dropping him.

I can't figure out why our coaches accepted his commitment in the first place. I'm beginning to wonder whether his offer/commitment was a misunderstanding.

Recruiting is a dirty game. Pushing him away after excepting his commit is a little shady. I'm not saying we are doing that, but it happens and it's a good problem to have as long as its not on a regular basis. Lesson learned.
This is all based on a theory btw. Could be totally untrue regarding USC doing it.

Exactly. Some team will fall apart this year and coaching changes will have some top level recruits looking around close to signing day. It happens every year, and this might be Dooley's last year.
I'd rather save a spot for one of those guys possibly falling our way, than not being able to take them bc we accepted a run-of-the-mill player we could sign last minute.

All I'm going to say is the "experts" didn't think much of a certain freshman running back that saved our bacon last year and fans on this board made similar comments about him. I don't know if the coaches should take him or not, I do know evaluators both experts and coaches make mistakes every year and it's sad to see our fans treat a kid they don't know and who's committed to play and sweat for us in such a manner. Such is recruiting and recruiting message boards.

Kenny Miles was a late pick-up. Our coaches had to have been more certain about the numbers and about who we had a shot at signing when they accepted Miles' commitment. Not so with Dallas.
