OT: Home Phone Service

Anyone use Magic Jack or another alternative device for home phone service? Looking to dump ATT. Thanks

I use magic jack and run it to a router.The computer doesn't have to be on to receive or make calls. Works great and less than $100. 00 for local and long distance for 5 years.

I bought an OOMA after several recommendations from friends at work. $200 to purchase but great from then and your number goes wherever you go.

Vonage my man Vonage. Changed all phones over to Vonage about a year ago including business. Have direct lines in all counties I serve which totals about 120 lines now. Cut my total phone bill from $6,000+ per month to $350.00 per month. Never believed it would work but it does. I can forward lines to any phone I want from my computer. Can control everything from VM to Call Blocks to anything by computer. Best feature - never hav to pay long distance again coming in or going out

Just cut it off and forget about it - i haven't had a home phone in 6 years and haven't missed it once. If you have a cell phone you pretty much have the only plan you need.

I had magic jack, it worked great. I stopped using it because I got to the point where I was using my cell phone for everything.

I have an Ooma and it works great! Call quality is excellent. The initial investment is a little steep but I've had mine for over a year and it's been great. I work from home and spend a lot of time on conference calls and it's much better than using a cell phone. Got a bluetooth headset so I can work without being tethered to a phone.
I would definitely recommend the Ooma.
