OT: Home Security Camera Systems

  • Anyone have any recommendations? Looking for camera system that can be accessed through smart phone, etc.

    There are tons out there now. If you have an IPhone, then look up the IZON (pronounced eyes-on) it's a Wi-Fi camera, and sets up about anywhere. It's built specifically to be compatible with the IPhone. There are also some large systems, that work independently.

    I had a hard wired system with four cameras around my house that worked off of a video card on my desktop PC and when it crashed I found out the company had gone under and there was no support. Now I'm looking for a replacement too.

    Thanks...I think the more answers and input we can get benefits us all. My in-laws were recently victims of a break-in.

    The owner of honor guard was on and said he would put up links on 610's site( podcast?)

    I missed a lot of the show but it has info out the ying yang. Without talking trash, he has a low opinion of the big alarm comanies and says they are deceiving with some of thier claims

  • My neighbor has Zmodo outdoor system and it works well with his Iphone. They also have indoor systems. Can get systems that record to DVR as well.

    Very surprised we haven't had more response. I realize board is cliqueish and some posters get ignored, but crime is on the rise in case you haven't noticed.

    I would dare say most of of here are middle class and would be interested in this. I wasn't looking to do ADT or another big company.

    It's entirely possible that no one knows much about it. I have a security system, but no cameras, so that's no help.
