OT: Is Uverse TV and internet worth switching to?

  • Can I get some positives and negatives? They are offering quite an impressive package and I am seriously considering switching to them. I only know 2 people that have it that I have talked to so i would like a little more feedback before i decide. Thanks in advance.

  • What are they offering? I'm very seriously considering switching to them (have TWC now).

  • I've had Comcast, Uverse and now DirecTV. Uverse wasn't bad but the receiver boxes kept going out. I had Uverse for 2 yrs and went through 4 or 5 receiver boxes and it wasn't just in one specific room. Plus AT&T customer service is horrible. I think if you can fog a mirror, you can get a job there.

We moved in August last year and I went with Comcast for Internet and DirecTV. I like it more than I did Uverse.

  • I love it. I do have an issue from time to time with the wireless receiver in the bedroom, but it is easily fixed. It is significantly cheaper than TimeWarner and I feel the internet is faster.

DVR in all rooms is pretty nice as well.

  • Ive known four people to get it and all four had it less than a year.

  • We have had it for almost 2 years now now and have no complaints. In fact, our experience has been the opposite of some of the other posters'....fantastic customer service, very few problems with the boxes, great value. I despise Time Warner, especially after seeing how much better their competition is.

  • yes on TV, but the internet is still horrid for what you pay. 1.5MB down vs. 3MB for same price w/ cable last time I checked their offerings. (1MB = 8Mb)

  • I love it, the wireless receiver is awesome. All you need is power, so you can pretty much move it anywhere in and around the house. customer service is not great, but ive only had one issue with at&t and it was corrected. Never had trouble with any boxes except having to reset one of them(simply unplug it and wait five minutes, Ive never understood why people dont know this) one time and I didnt need to get a guy to come out. Price is good and the internet is fast for me. id say make the move. I hate TWC and Charter b/c of their price gouging, never liked DirecTV(though ive never had it, just friends) or Dish. Its basically cable but better and cheaper IMO.

  • I had it for a year and dumped about a year ago. Too many movie commercials that you have to button-off plus they went up 50% at the end of 1 year. I went to Uverse internet and just recently DIRECTV package which saved me a bunch...as my ATTDSL was gonna double in price.

I wouldnt go near them again except a great savings package......and as soon as I can find a good IP......meaning I will have to pay more for DIRECT, I will. Never see you around anymore, eh?

  • I do not have Uverse but do have DSL from ATT. Their Customer service is horrible. I will say though that if you get a package and the price is supposed to go up at the end of the year just tell them you are going to cancel and start over on their new deal and they will honor that. I actually did this with my DSL.

  • I've had it for about 2 years. It is probably slightly more expensive than other things I've had, but is worth it not to deal with Charter. To have their top package with movie channels, HD , 3 receivers, and 10 or 12 (can't remember) meg internet cost me about 190 a month. They made at least 10 trips to my house to get it going right but I've had very little problems since then. That may be because my neighborhood was one of the first ones to get it in Greenville, not sure. I would get it again, but just beware about that killer deal they are offering you. I like the user interface and equipment better than others I've had.

  • i've had it for over a year and I am happy with it. I hate dish and directTv. TWC custormer service is putrid. AT&T has been the best so far. Only negative I had is that everyone once in a while (once every 3 months or so) the reciever will restart on its own.
Positives- best customer service, no contract, easy online bill pay and services, ESPN3, good quality and channel lineup, acceptable internet speeds.

  • First that IS cable...telephone cable that has been upgraded and if it hasnt been you stand the risk of a lot of problems
but AKC...I never trash anyone or any company on the internet but the last month since I changed from Direct/ATT to Direct Uverse has been a small hell....I will edit-in the details when I get in tonite

Apples and Oranges. Uverse's internet is guaranteed speed and is a direct line. Cable's internet is "maximum" speed and is shared. When everyone on your street gets home from work and starts using the internet, your 3.0MB cable connection will be slower than Uverse's 1.5MB

  • I have had Uverse (tv, phone, Internet) for almost 2 years. Much better than TWC, which isn't saying much. I had Directv prior to switching to Uverse. I liked Directv tv portion better than Uverse, but not so much that it was worth the extra expense. Overall value, Uverse is the best.

As to customer service, all I can say is that I had a problem with my wireless router and they sent someone out to fix it that day, which was a Sunday. I was impressed.

    Hope this helps.
