OT: Lake Marion area

  • Some friends and I are renting a lakehouse for a bachelor party in a few weeks. We're taking a couple of boats to go out in and also do some fishing during the day however were going to need to find something to do at night. We're staying in the summerton area. Are there any bars or restaurants anywhere close? Also does anybody have a good golf course recommendation? Thanks

  • There is an Italian restaurant right there and a strip club right down the road. Can't remember the names of either. Girls work awfully hard for a dollar there. moon

    My buddies were there one night when a stripper fell off the pole, LOL!! They had to call an ambulance and stop everything for about 30 mins.

    Thanks dude, are those in summerton? I know there are a few bars like that around santee but that's like a 30-45 min drive from where we are unfortunately, unless y'all know of any taxi companies in the area.

    Google it....
    Capt's Quarters down the street - pretty good seafood.
    LT's across the street - redneck bar, usually pretty good crowd.
    Lots of golf in Summerton or Santee - google it.
    Several other eateries in Santee...

  • You may actually have your plans backwards. Santee is the place to fish at night, especially in summer when the sun and temperatures can get up there. I also would think it's not exactly where one would think of for strip clubs, considering the typical "local" I usually see there, but maybe they come in from somewhere else. We always go strictly to fish at night and sleep/eat during the day and eat at the marina where we stay, but I have gone to (I think it's called) "The Butcher's Block" or something like that. Big cinder block building where you pick your own steak and they grill it on an open pit in the middle of the dining room. Been a long time since I've eaten there, but we pass it on our way in and out for fishing trips. Pretty darn good as I recall. Good luck and be safe.

    The last time I was there (a few years ago), the talent was very weak, including one stripper performing in a knee brace. Import talent from elsewhere.

  • Is Showgirls still in Santee? I was there 15 years ago for a bachelor party and there was an 8, two 7's, and about 10 others that ranged from a 3 to a -1. The -1 was about 50 years old, went about 195, and had what we assumed was the biggest C section scar we had ever seen. I could probably do better with a Swiss army knife. I don't know of one man in America who would find that woman attractive.

    The 8 and two 7's were a nice surprise to be in such a crappy place and we had a damn good time. Those girls definitely worked hard. I was about 21 years old and in college and I think I had a higher net worth than half of the guys in there.

    LOL on the "-1"!! As I said earlier though, the Santee area is probably one of the absolute last places I'd be thinking of looking for a strip club. More like a place you'd be paying people to keep clothes on! It's funny how one's thinking changes as they get older guess...I get a lot more fulfillment listening to gators grunt along the banks and fighting a 50 pound catfish in the dark than going to clubs. Plus, the cat is probably prettier. tongue

  • Not very much in Summerton at all ?Santee has a lot more.
    I remember playing a basketball there when I was in high school and there was a huge hole in the dressing room ceiling where you could look up and see the night sky!

  • Goat Island Restaurant and Lounge. Doesnt look like much but I've never failed to have a good time there.

  • I was going bring up "Goat Island...where the road ends and the fun begins" decent food and the bar is pretty cool, very representative of the area. i.e. where the locals go, definitely not a tourist trap.

    The best thing about the Goat is you can go there by boat, there is only one road going in to Goat Island and they occasionally have road blocks. Avoid the law, go by boat.
