Business Networking Tool. Very useful from my POV.

Definitely a powerful business networking tool. Facebook is about who you are as a person and what you are doing in your personal life, LinkedIn is about who you are in your career and the things you have accomplished in that world.

Why do you ask a question here that you already know the answer to or could easily google to get the answer and one that the mods will have to move to the Barnyard?

Also a good tool for professional recruiters to use. You put up your resume and they can see it to see if you fit what they are looking for. They pm you or email you to see if you're interested without disturbing you at work.

My uncle is a geologist and was out of work for about 6 months, and was called by a recruiter simply from the use of LinkedIn. He had to relocate to Arizona for the job, but he's getting paid well above what he was making before. From what he told me, the recruiter said that's what a lot of them are starting to use to find possible candidates for positions now.

I use it a good bit. I use it to keep up with my industry and to follow all the new regulations. Some of the message boards though are just like here. Idiots acting like bigger idiots because it is not in person but on a computer

It's a good site to find recruiters and even their job posting board is pretty decent as well, when I was out of work (6+ months) I was having horrible luck with the job mills like careerbuilder, monster etc, as they get bombarded by a thousand resumes a day, so Linkedin I could connect with people involved with a specific industry and get your information into their hands with less competition. I know other people use it to connect with business contacts for business etc. Now I dont go on there all the time, but if you use it correctly it will be worth your time.
