OT: Litchfield/ Golf

Bistro 217 or Louis' at Sanfords for dinner, most of the staff at Franks acts like they are doing you a favor by allowing you to eat there. Caledonia or True Blue for Golf.

Guys, op called himself a hacker and said his dad is not very good at all. He also does not want to spend much money. Caledonia is not the course for him, at all. It is highly ranked, it's hard, and it is really expensive.

OP should be playing at founders club, wilbrook, river club, or tradition.

  • I'll be in Litchfield all next week. I'll need to be mindful of this thread :)

In Litchfield for the weekend and I need help because I'm a first timer on this end:

    1. What are the best places to eat/carouse in the area?

    2. What golf courses would be suitable for a hacker like myself? I don't want to pay an arm/leg to go knock it around and knock a few back. Also have my dad with me and he is not good at all but he likes to play when we get a chance.

    Thanks in advance!

Just got back from Litchfield by the sea Saturday. Pawley's Plantation is great right now if you go online you can get $48 in the am and $35 pm and as nice a Caledonia is it's not double the price nice. I think PP is as nice as true blue but Caledonia is in a class by itself down in south myrtle. The Heritage is a nice one as well as the tradition. Willbrook and River Club are good especially for the price. Hope you have a great time.
Here is a link to save some serious jack at Pawleys Plantation and some others. Pawleys use to be very expensive but was just recently bought by MBN and is about half the price it use to be.

    Frank's to eat.

Play The Heritage. It's Caledonia-esque feel-wise but about half the cost. True Blue is nice too but I actually like The Heritage's layout and feel more than True Blue.

Heritage is a favorite of mine.
How about Prestwick, used to be a nice layout. We played on a coupon deal a few years back and price was very reasonable.

  • Update:

Alright guys, we ended up playing the River Club. It was $35 after 3:30, so that suited us just right. Played terrible.... parred 1, 16, and 17, but that was all I had to brag about. Beautiful course (I'm sure they all are compared to what I'm use to playing in the upstate).

Didn't get a chance to eat out... We ended up watching the game at the condo, but we did pick up some crab legs from the seafood market (and a few Crab Lady Crab Cakes). Thanks for all the handy advice. I plan to spend a lot more time down there this summer so I will try to hit up several of the other spots.

This is not Tony, but he gave me props on the handle.

  • I've played Pawley's Plantation 3 or 4 times - it's always been in good shape and pretty good price for the quality of the product.

Dead Dog burned to the ground a few months ago but they are in the process of rebuilding. Just an FYI
