OT: Math question of the day, who's smart?

  • 3.0 said...

    You are in charge of serving refreshments at a family picnic. You fill a container that holds 16 pints. You are serving the punch in cups that hold ¼ of a pint. How many cups will you fill from that container?

    64.

    Unless I get thirsty?

    Three workers sort 66 boxes a day. One of the workers is three times more productive than the second worker and twice as productive as the third worker. How many boxes did the second most productive worker sort?

    x + 2x + 3x = 66

    6x = 66

    x = 11 (first worker)

    second worker = 22

    third worker = 33

    adds up to 66 right? so 22 is the answer.

  • Mrs. Johnson planted 48 rows of vegetables in her garden. She planted 12 rows of corn. She planted 50% more rows of pinto beans than corn. The remaining rows will be split up evenly between green chili, pumpkins and zucchini.
    How many rows of pinto beans are there?
    How many rows of pumpkins are there?
    What is the ratio of zucchini to corn?

    that is correct - B is 50% more than C, A is twice B.

    I never took the SAT or PSAT and didn't score an 800 on math. tell your buddy that. lol.

    Haha, well it's better than nothing, he hates these questions.

    64.

    could be 32 cups as in measurement in cups. or 64 cups in drinking vessel cups.

  • My wife made me an apple pie for dinner. That night, I ate 3/8 of that pie. The following day, I ate 3/16 of what was left. The day after that, I ate ¼ of what was left. How much pie is left after three days?

    If the pie originally weighed 44 ounces, what does the remainder weigh?

  • A=2*(3/2)C))=3C
    B=(3/2)C=1.5C
    C=C

    A+B+C=220,000
    (3C)+(1.5C)+C=220,000
    5.5C=220000
    C=40,000

    3/2*40=60
    60/3=20,000
    yup. $20,000

    That one to me was the easiest

    36 + 18 +12 = 66 - yeah that makes sense 36/18 = 2, 36/12 = 3...that is correct - my bad lol! hope I didn't screw him up.

    I did it backwords. should have been X + X/3 + X/2 = 66....so 11X/6 = 66....X = 36 so middle guy is 18.

    I am 33 man what can I say lol.

  • Cockengr, since you're an engineer just like I am, I know what courses you took in school, and I know you took multiple physics, so please don't answer this one...

    What does the E, m, and c stand for in E=mc^2? And I'm not talking about numeric representation.
