OT- Nerves of steel, your name is Phil Mickleson...

  • that flop shot on 15 was amazing. The execution was great, but the nerves it took to attempt that with the water in the background was off the chart. As the broadcasters said, Mickleson is the only player in the world who even considers attempting that shot in that circumstance.

    This isn't the US Open

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubble gum.

  • Amazing shot and round.

Interesting thing they announced: Mickelson has led for all his major wins. Tiger gets grief for being a "frontrunner" for the exact same reason.

might be right, but Tiger has the shot as well

Doubt he'd elect to play it though...even at his best

Phil definitely has a sack, no homo

  • Phil has been playing that shot his whole career Tiger is not in Phil's area code when it comes to the short game

not in the same area code is a strong statement. Better, yes.

Tiger's short game has been outstanding through his run of 14 majors and probably has been the second best on tour..next to Lefty's.

Lefty's is spectacular and goes for "cool" shots more often...sometimes to his own detriment.

He pulled it off this time.

That's just not accurate. There is no better putter in the world than Tiger when he's on. And his chipping and wedge game is one of the best around. Now, debating that Phil is better is reasonable, but not in the same area code. You dead wrong.

It is absolutely accurate. You're dead wrong. Just wishful thinking and hero worship on your part.
The Tiger of old was close. The Tiger of now is absolutely not in the same area code.
You refer to his chipping and wedge game as if it was 3 years ago . That's ancient history
and it has to be analyzed against Phil or anyone else based on how he plays now.

Nick Faldo summed it up perfectly. ..

He has no game. He snap hooks his drives, blocks his iron shots, his chipping is too strong, and he can't putt.
Faldo would LHAO at your statement.

"Tiger has the shot as well"
    _________

"Had" not "has", and he certainly doesn't have the guts to try it. He doesn't trust his game enough.

He can't even reach greens in regulation or birdie par 5's.

will agree with your flop shot assessment ie "had" and reason why. Should've clarified before skankgate.

I'm shocked with his ineptness on the par 5's this week as his driving was better(length and accuracy) than it has been in several years coming in to this week.

I agree the field has caught up with Tiger. He used to make it into the final pairing on Sunday and the others would crumble. They now don't fear Tiger, are as long or longer than Tiger, and there are more young players that are good. The field has been leveled and it is much harder to dominate as in the past. Tiger will not catch Jack. he blew it with his 3 year swoon when he has won no majors with his injuries and his personal problems.

Because not everyone buys into the act. I would never argue his ability as a great golfer, but I will never pull for "fake, fan pleasing, I'll talk about myself all day, everything I do is contrived and I am the smartest person in the room" Michelson. He is not beloved by all of his contemporaries and there is a reason for that. "Ahhh, I just love Phil because he smiles all the time!"

there is no doubt you are a tiger fan, that is the only way you can even believe that anything to do with Phil is fake. He has been the same way every day since he came on tour. In his early years he used to try to make every shot and it got him in a lot of trouble. He has learned to play the course and make the shots he can.

you are so wrong, Phil is not a fake at all and the only person on tour that doesn't like Phil is Tiger and that's because Tiger knows he can never be Phil.

Phil may or may not win today but he will be the same person as he leaves the course, he will give high fives to the fans as he leaves the course and not curse them because they may have taken a picture of him. When Phil wins other players hang around and congratulate him, when your boy tiger wins you don't see other players hanging around. He is a true POS.
