OT : Scary Break-In Today, Help With Buying A Firearm...

  • A S&W or Glock .40 will give a lot of bang for the buck. I recommend a tactical pc w/no safety and always keep a round in the chamber. Practice with it often and get a great feel for whatever sidearm you choose. Then get a CWP.

The real USC is the one that didn't finish in the top 25. The real Carolina is Academic Fraud U. South Carolina back to back Top 10. Got it.

Bronco is still in the vet hospital, but is stable...They seem to think he's over the major crisis regarding the bullet to the lung, but will need surgery at UGA vet school for his broken leg...The bone could not be properly repaired, so will need to have surgery to insert a rod designed for his size...His show career is now over.

I want to thank everyone for help regarding suggestions for firearms...Ive decided to make sure this never happens again...I recently bought a Sig 45 to carry and will have a 12 gauge by me at night...Also, all my Rotts will have full run of the house at all times...I hope this mess never happens to any of my fellow Gamecocks ..

    Thanks again everyone.

Today when I got home from a trip to Charleston, I found my house ransacked and burglarized, and one of Rottweilers shot ... The SOBs stole irreplacable art and artifacts that belonged to my late wife from South Africa...Things that meant a great deal to me...Also, Bronco, my only Rottie who has the run of the house, was shot in the chest while trying to defend his property, but thankfully, it looks as if he will survive...

Anyway, I would like advice in buying a very good firearm...Ive had a Baretta and FireStar Plus in the past, but would like advice from those wiith more expertise...I hope this does not sound cruel, but I only hope they come back again, after I buy my gun.

    Thanx in advance!

If you are simply looking for a leave at home protection gun, my Smith and Wesson .357 NightGuard (an 8-shot revolver) which also comes standard with Rujicon nightsight has served me admirably. I don't have to worry about a jam in the darkness, and it also is able to accept crimson trace laser grips (which will produce the red dot on where you are targeting when you grip the handle) for a few dollars extra if your markmanship leaves a bit to be desired at present. Best of luck!

    Crisis

  • I'm no help on a gun, but like I've told lots of people who say they have them to protect themselves, you have to be there when the crime goes down to use it, or it's no good, and will likely be stolen as well. Told my dad just last week that his gun he has in case someone tries to break in on he and my mom that it wouldn't do much good back in his bedroom, unloaded because they keep grandchildren regularly.

I have a pistol, but it's stored away safely and the ammunition is safely somewhere else. My recommendation is get a good alarm system, and I wish you the best of luck in the authorities finding the criminals, your beloved keepsakes, and for your best friend's full recovery. Please keep us posted.

This may do more than anything else to prevent another breakin. One rott is one thing, but no sane burgular would go into a house with 4 or more. Yikes.
