OT----this will make a better man out of you

  • especially if you have children. just saw "Courageous" and would highly recommend you see it.
my church (Forrest Hills) suggested it, but you don't need to be religious to be inspired by it.
with all the nonsense our culture promotes, it would be great to have a grass-root effort to get folks to see that.

  • Saw it, loved it! Am recommending it to all my friends/family/coworkers, especially the men.

  • {aggreed]. you don't see that in movie theaters. i'm not too easily impressed or moved (i probly snuck mini bottles in to see Passion of Christ), but that is a movie that everybody in America should see

  • 100% agree. I sent a text to all the guys in my phone on the way home, some had already seen it. I don't have kids (yet) but am married. Great movie, made by the same people who made Fireproof which is another must see.

  • I would like to recommend The 5th Quarter as another good family movie.

    agreed
that was a very good movie that i was suprised nobody talked about. the game footage brought back bad memories of clem coming back on wake (gaines strip and score on wake punter) and i had no idea what Abbate had gone thru personally that year

  • 15 couples from my church went to a lifeway Festival Of Marriage(FOM) in North Carolina 2 weekends ago and it was based around the movie Courageous. You talk about something that we as Fathers can do for our wives and children......go see this movie and implement it into your life. You will not regret it. If you need information on this please email me at twandswr1@comcast.net and Ill make sure you get it

'courageous" is about a guy whose daughter dies and he is transformed as a parent and person

theyear2001 suggested "5th quater". it too is a sorta tear jerker about the death of John abbate's little brother during the acc championship year of wake forrest. it's pretty cool as it chronicles thier dream season
(~ 2008?) and what happened behind the scenes. it would have been a huge storyline if wake was a big program. Abbate was thier standout middle LB.

both are great movies(from a guy that usually gets stuck watching crap like transformers etc)

  • Our church made this movie (Sherwood Baptist, Albany GA), as well as Fireproof, Facing the Giants and Flywheel. My wife worked on the movie in a behind the scenes capacity. It's amazing how well these movies have done on such small budgets. But, the storylines have been great and they have been movies that needed to be made IMO.

I haven't seen corageous yet but I will because I really enjoyed all of those other movies you just mentioned. I don't want you to take this is as an insult but based on the previews I've watched I sure am happy to see how much the acting has improved in courageous compared to those other movies. Of course it's the message that's really important and your church get an A+++ for that.
