  • Anyone ever had a virus hack their account on here? I did not write whatever that mess about skiffs was.

Woodrow: I hope you get a bass boat and enjoy it but that is a slippery slop my friend. It doesn't come close to stopping with the boat. Next thing you know you will have a deck full of 300-500 rod/reel set ups, more tackle than any one person could probably use in a life time, weekly entry fees that will only go up the more you fish in the hopes of winning more.....and on and on. Tournament bass fishing is a lot of fun though. Maybe try to find someone you know that already does it and offer to pay registration fee on a tourny trail and split gas for the season to make sure you like it before you take the boat plunge? It would be an expensive fling. Tight lines.

Two happiest days of a boat owner's life?, The day they buy and the day they sell - have friends who have bought and sold that would confirm.

If that's their take, then they should sell out and get out.... I don't fish, but I have two boats and one or both are in the water every Sat. and Sun. from the beginning of warm weather right up to the start of football season.

I played tournament golf for 25 years or more and got tired of it... spending lots of money but couldn't enjoy it with my wife, 5 hour rounds because every body thinks they become Tiger when they get in a tournament. I put them down and haven't played a single round in three years now. \

....but I love putting the boat in the water and just chillin.....

  • I miss tournament fishing. There's nothing quite like it. The Triton I had was a 18 ft aluminum with a 90 HP Johnson. It doesn't matter what boat you have it only matter if you can fish. Won more than my share out of that rig.

I've been tournament fishing for 20 years and I still donate a lot more than I win. I fished the Carolina Bass Challenge yesterday on Murray and donated. The wins are priceless though. If you're going to buy an older boat then definitely look for a Ranger. A few 90's Ranger models that were really good hulls are 391V, 361V, 354V, 487VS, and 461VS. I would suggest looking for a boat with a Mercury EFI or Optimax. Those motors are workhorses and you don't have the worries you will have with an older carb motor. You can usually find solid mid to late 90's model Rangers that have been taken care of for under 10K.

Stay away from 2000-2001 optipops. You might want to consider a flats boat as they can do double duty. Also look up www.carrotstix.com they may suite your taste and let gamecocks know you are on the water

    Yeah I've seen them.

Why do so many bass boats seem to be Garnet or Burgandy or Red. It's amazing the percentage.
