Ok, I have to ask, a high 4 star, seriously

  • has anyone at 247 actually seen this guy play? I'm sorry, I've got one at Hammond, and will be watching him all year, but if this is one of the top 247 players in the country, then USC needs to exclusively recruit the private schools. Talking to the folks around school, we agree he's a good player and will probably lead us to another state title, but I think someone at 247 is on seriously good meds.

  • I say bump up all their recruits to 5 stars. Every loss to us will hurt that much more when they think they have all-americans at every position. toot

  • He's got legit size. If he can run and catch, I don't see why his ranking would be a stretch.

He's got a legit ugly mug also.

Edit: I just watched the first few seconds of this guys film, and he can fly for someone that size. He also has great hands. That is an amateur opinion, however.

Look the kid is a very nice player, but the LB's that he beats, are TINY and UNATHLETIC, 99% of the kids in SCISA couldn't have enven made my AAAA HS team, and that was 25 yrs ago. Heck our CB's were bigger than today's SCISA LB's.

Normally love to see the 247 ratings, but come on, one of the top 5 TE's in the nation, when he plays at that level. I've watch Hammond and Heathwood for years, and he's not even the best athlete I've seen. The Heathwood QB from 8 yrs ago was a much better player than this kid, and I think he ended up at MTSU or some place.

    Steve,
Go watch a game, you've lost a lot of eval cred on this one.

I have seen him twice and I don't see it at all. Reminds me a lot of the Meredith kid from TL Hanna a couple of years ago though I think the Meredith kid is the better of the two. Not really sure how either of these two was ever considered a 4 star.

I know that is highlights, but on one of those plays he takes off on a dead sprint, and he is flying, and goes by the safety like he is standing still. The safety probably runs a 5 second forty. He also makes a 1 handed catch look very easy. I know it's against bad competition. I don't know what he should be ranked, or anything like that, but he looks like a good BCS tight end prospect. It is hard to tell because of the lack of competiton.

I know for a fact the guy is ugly.

That safety is slower than a 5 forty by the way.

That can't be true. No safety at that level of SCISA is going to see the field in anything but a blowout if he's that slow. If it was SCISA 1A (or whatever the lowest classification is these days), that might be true, but not at the highest classification. I went to a small 2A SCISA school through 9th grade and we had plenty of guys in the 4's. One of them timed out at a 4.4 at an FSU camp. Of course he was about 5' tall and 120 lbs if that. But the kid could fly. They have enough bodies at the higher classifications to get 4.7 or at worst 4.8 guys at safety.

As for the kid, that one play was the only one that he looked fast in. I wasn't overly impressed, but I didn't think he was roadkill either. He had some good plays, one example of great hands and blocked well against guys who won't likely play anywhere after high school. But I would be hard pressed to give him a 93 rating based off what I saw.

Must be cu guys working the stop watches. There aren't that many guys who really run in the 4's and very few in SCISA, go look at the track results if you want proof.
