Our heroes will always be heroes

  • Last night the vetrerans Mazilli, Mathews, Walker and Price showed the youngsters how to win. It has been a fun 3 years. even Roth and Forrest battled. Next year could be even better if our talented freshmen have learned from their elders. Consistent winning is a learned process not just based on talent. Win or lose today I will be at the game to watch a group of players that have given me some special Gamecock memories. Walker's home runs, Roth's constant battling of more heralded pithers, and Price's gut wrenching closes are great stuff. I enjoyed the Roche years and 1984 but guys baseball the last few years has been very special.Sorry to be so syrupy emotional this morning but just wanted to express myself. No matter what happens today let's show our appreciation to this group of players.

It might have to do with spelling one of the names wrong. I upvoted too.

I think last night's game serves as a perfect example of what makes these Ray Tanner championship teams. Always battling, timely defensive plays, a clutch Christian Walker 3 run bomb, Price dealing and closing it down, a little controversy that would have sunk old Gamecock teams, and a victory.

  • Great post! This team is made up of a bunch of winners and it all seems to stem from Michael Roth. His legacy is set forever.
