President Harris Pastides discusses the decision to hire Ray Tanner, who doesn't have a strong administrative resume in terms of experience but excelled in other areas.

Thanx for that, JW!
Pastides is a great leader, and he just did what great leaders do: surrounded himself with great talent in Ray Tanner.
In Ray we trust.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
I was disappointed when Dr. Palms left and we hired Sorenson. It was a constant struggle between the athletic department and the President's office. The hiring of Dr. Pastide has been great for our Athletics and Academics.
I was one of the ones a little sceptical of hiring Ray as AD. But after reading this article the most important thing is that Dr. Pastides and Coach Tanner communicate well and have a great relationship. It sounds like that is there. Ray is a great leader and has proven to make his vision happen. I think this will be a good hire.

I'll never understand why we didn't do a national search! How do we know he is the right guy? ! ? !
