Paterno family statement...

  • "That the President, the Athletic Director and the Board of Trustees accepted this unprecedented action by the NCAA without requiring a full due process hearing before the Committee on Infractions is an abdication of their responsibilities and a breach of their fiduciary duties to the University and the 500,000 alumni. Punishing past, present and future students of the University because of Sandusky’s crimes does not serve justice. This is not a fair or thoughtful action; it is a panicked response to the public's understandable revulsion at what Sandusky did."

Above is the part that makes my blood boil..... they accuse the president, AD and BOT of abdicating their responsibilities in not fighting the NCAA penalites... What about Joe Paterno?? Was their a bigger abdication of responsibility that what he did?? At best looking the other way and at worst covering up the actions of Sandusky... IMO the familiy would be best to keep quiet on this.....

  • odd they would cite the "public's understandable revulsion at what Sandusky did."

joepa apparently wasn't terribly "revulsed." Not enough to call a cop anyways.

  • The Paterno Family is out of touch, just like Daddy was.

If Daddy would have done the right thing and placed a phone call to the authorities, things might well have turned out differently.

They are deflecting balme to everyone but Daddy.

Sorry, Jay and Co, that duck won't quack.

    THEY ARE! UP A CREEK!

  • I have hired celebrity spokesperson Harrison Ford to respond the the Paterno Family's statement:

  • Sorry Jay but your father was an abject scumbag. He wasn't good ole Joe. He wasn't righteous Joe. He wasn't the guy that did it the right way. He was a deceitful, power hungry worm that was cool with young boys getting prison raped 8 feet from his office so long as he got to keep coaching football.
With every Paterno/PSU apologist that rises up out of the muck to decry how unfair all of this is it further confirms that the NCAA got one right this time.
There is still an alarming lack of perspective that seems ingrained up there and not just from the Paterno clan who understandably have an innate desire to protect their dads legacy. But even with them, at some point they need to wake up and shut up.

  • I am on the same page at what Spurrier said at SEC media days.

    GamecockWorld

  • I saw a tweet this morning that said it must not be a part of the Paterno family genetics to know when and when not to say something. How true.

  • The paterno camp still doesn't get it. Their public statement reinforces, in my mind at least, that the culture that was evident at PSU during the past 12 to 13 years still is prominent in the paterno clan.

  • They missed the entire point. It was not because of what Sandusky did. If it were only that, no action would've been taken. It was because the school and coach knew what he did, covered it up for the sake of their sacred program, and allowed it to happen multiple times.

They really need to be quiet at this point. They are no longer members of the football program and need to zip it.

    ospop4690

  • So they are worried about the leaders response to sanctions against the football team, but not the leaders response to Sandusky raping little boys.

The Paterno Family, stupid Penn State fans, stupid Penn State alums and stupid Penn State students can go fornicate with themselves. The narrow lens through which they see the world outside State College, PA is why the university and its football program is now in ruins.
