Pathetic day for SEC hoops yesterday...

  • Yesterday, Florida lost to Kansas State, which isn't so bad. LSU lost at Marquette, which was to be expected. However, the other SEC losses were horrible. Texas A&M lost to Southern. Ole Miss lost to Indiana State. Alabama lost to Mercer. Auburn lost to Winthrop.

Any chance the SEC drops basketball?

  • Thats bad, but did you hear about the South Carolina Gamecocks beating the Manhatten Jaspers? We had to carry the SEC banner last night.

Missouri beat undefeated Illinois. 6-6 on the day. Been much worse days for sec. The conference is not good at basketball overall.

Which is why I think the Gamecocks have a chance at making the NIT. The bottom half of the conference is not good and our schedule is not terrible like it was last year. We play our toughest games on the road(games we wouldnt win at home) and dont play any of the top teams twice.

  • Looks like we could have a much better year in conference than we thought. Might be able to get an NIT bid, which would be a great accomplishment with this roster.

I wouldn't get my hopes up. We have lost to elon and not particularly good Clemson and st johns. You need 18+ wins to get into the nit today along with a decent rpi, which we will struggle like hell to have.

If we can get above .500 and into the cbi or something it will be a tremendous year, IMO.

  • I hope we make the NIT just to keep Frank Martin's playoff record intact.

I agree. Our fans have conveniently forgotten that we lost to Elon, Clemson, and St Johns, and that we barely beat 3-6 Manhattan and 3-7 app state. Our team has no post presence. The only team we realistically even match up with is Miss State. We may not have Page, and did I mention we have nothing in the post?

So are you saying there's hope for us.
