Paul Stelow - Josh Low - JC

  • I will go will JC's eval of Mitch over the other two.

    He raved about the kids performance in NY 2 weeks ago, and 247 bumped him to 4 stars right after that.

    Now, Paul Stelow, who works for a site that covers the mighty mights from pickens U is calling him a ok/solid type prospect.

    I think I joined this site because of JC's evals- not Paul Stelow's.

    I didn't think of that, your point is a good one. It all still boils down to: if our coaching staff thinks he is good enough, THAT is good enough for me.

    No matter what anyone else says, that little blurb in the review definitely caught the attention of quite a few on this board.

  • No my point is that I think JC is a great evaluator of talent.

    To many times writers think they are talent evaluators. I will take JC's take on a prospect more than I will take Tony's.

    I think Tony has more "insider" info about the Gamecocks, but that is different from pure talent evaluation which is a art form in itself.

    I did not mean to appear to take a shot at anyone (other than where one individual works), but rather I wanted to give my opinion on the difference between a writer-insider-and talent evaluator.

    Christ man you're entitled to your own opinion just like they are. Paul can't be good at his job and be biased. It doesn't occur to you that Mitch just performed a lot better at the NY event?

  • Strelow does not work at the tater sight anymore. Unless I misunderstood, he told me as much not too long ago.

    I do know that all three are great evaluators. Just because one doesn't rave about one of our prospects does not make them a 'bad evaluator'. They are all three very good at what they do. I believe that all are involved in the ratings of prospects.

    Mitch could have had a bad day. He could be a guy that may not look as good in a camp setting. If I am not mistaken, Connor Shaw was not a guy that was going to shine in a camp. I know Nosovitch does not look very good in those camps.

    Regardless, all three have stated that he would be a great pickup for the Cocks.

    If you want to just hear people rave about our prospects talents, my evaluations are a must read for you, FYI.

    Lol..........this is funny in a elementary kinda way.

    For us common folks, we have good days and bad days. I can go out on the golf course and shoot a 69 and you would think I was all world. I could go out the next day and shoot a 82 and Jo Blow would think I was slightly better than average. Two separate days, two separate venues, two different performances, two different evaluations. My guess is that Paul and Josh were evaluating based on his performance this weekend and not on that of which JC based his on.

  • Paul seems very fair in his evaluations. However it is typical for fans to go with the evaluation that makes them feel the best.

    Kid has 15 offers including LSU and Bama. That is pretty strong.

    First, Strelow does not work for a tater site any more.

    Second, JC's Charlotte article mentions two QBs who stood out. Mitch was not one of them. Point being that apparently Mitch looked better in NY than he did a week later in Charlotte.

    I, for one, take ANYONE's evaluations with a grain of salt.

    I appreciate very much the comments and coverage provided by all 3 of the men you mentioned. Not sure why you felt the need to take a shot at two of them for telling it the way they saw it.

    Agree. If Alabama and LSU and Steve Spurrier think he is a good quarterback prospect what else does anyone need.

  • I have a ton of respect for Paul. Even when he ran the taters site for 247Sports.
    Dude is a very hard worker and I think he is an excellent evaluator. I don't want anyone telling me what I want to hear. I want thre truth. Mitch did not perform well in Charlotte. He said so himself. Does that mean Mitch sucks? Absolutely not. But it also doesn't mean Paul sucks because he told the truth.

    I appreciate the evaluations of all these experts. Hope they keep up the great work!!! And remember, it's just their opinion.

    He is but it does seem he always like to " knock " the Carolina Recruits a little bit. Don't get me wrong, that doesn't make him a bad guy but it's apparent he has a little Ard in him.
