Can't say enough how impressed I am with Groves as a person and player. Gamecocks landed a good one.

    Great to hear, Jaime!

This is a surprise, you had done an interview with him a couple of days ago, and he did not even claim a leader.

Welcome, Mr. Groves, to the Gamecock family!

If it is an offer then it is committable. If it is not committable then you really don't have an offer do you?

If you want to pretend that all listed offers are commitable it's a free country.

  • Either Groves is one of the smartest football players we'll ever have, or someone isn't shooting him straight about the IB program. Unless he's planning to double or triple major and basically keep a 4.0 while playing football, he may want to find another academic program. Either way, nice to grab another commitment.

So you're accusing our coaches of lying to a recruit? You're questioning the integrity of our coaches?

Read my post. Either he's tremendously smart or someone misled him -- coaches or otherwise. It's as simple as that. If you actually knew anything about the IB program, you'd be fully aware that I know what I'm talking about.

So what you're saying is that he has to maintain an A-Average (4.0) and double or triple major to remain in the IB program?

    What does that even mean?

  • The IB program is one of the best if not the best IB programs in the world. You have to have a very impressive resume to get in and to my knowledge be fluent in another language. I feel that if Ali is speaking of this program, then he knows what it will take to get in. If he didnt know much about it, he would just say that he likes the business program most likely. Also, you do not start in the IB program.

Basically what he's going to have to do is have a business major while having a major in another language. Basically double the load for one degree. Plus, that program only accepts 40 to 50 people a year I believe. Its extremely hard to get into because of the selection process. Which is why G.P.A is so important. He could very well have a 3.9 and not get in. Its that hard.

Is it possible? Yes. I'm assuming since he has offers from Vandy and Duke that he's quick on the uptake. Hey, maybe he's a Myron Rolle type. Would be a great story for both him and the university athletic department if he did it though. Either way, I wish him the best.

  • I didn't realize our undergraduate IB program was so prestigious, you learn something new every day.

Maybe the fact that he is a student-athlete will help him get admitted if all his other credentials line up. Best of luck to this young man.

  • Isn't Roth an IB major. I don't see why, if Groves had offers from Vandy and Duke, he can't make the grade... so to speak.

I am sure it will be tough but maybe he can do it. Anyway, I hope so.
