Please explain why we have our 3 best WR's

  • eddy said...

To be quite frank, I'm sick of hearing about the need for our wr's to be good blockers. If all we want is blockers, we've got tons of TE's.

I think it's the responsibility of the WR coach to make sure he gets the best players on the field at together. No excuses.

You are tired of hearing about the realities of football? Might want to turn on your play station then.

eddy- thats how I see it based on Wes's notes not the depth chart. Thanks

He also stated he will more than likely move back outside

    at the same position?

I thought Bryd was moved to the outside?

Ace, Bryd and Ellington cant be at the same spot-I am sorry but this irkes me to no end.

Sometimes I do not get Spurrier Jr.

Whoever upvoted this post is a moron. Sorry, bu SOS and company have a much better clue of the talent they have to work with, and where it fits best. Do us all a favor and stop coaching from the bleachers. There is a reason why Bubba is being paid to coach at an SEC school, and a reason you are posting on th message board.

Seriously it's Been two practices, sometimes I don't understand the overreactions.

I'll give a pass on byrd as he was still an unknown as a passing threat up until last spring, but our two best returning receivers from last year should not be playing the same position regardless of how many practices we are in. It's a goof and it needs to be changed.

The people questioning the staff after two practices are probably the same people who sit in the upper deck and yell "get the play in coach" and "run the damn ball". I mean for one, Spurrier can't hear you from up there, and even if he could, he's not going to take their advice anyway.

Stupid post is stupid. First off, I dont think they are the three best WRs at all. Ace is the best, but Byrd has proven nothing and Ellington had one or two good games. I think DeeDee Smith the second best WR, with DL being third. DL is the best blocker at the position, and being a good blocker gets you on the field. We are a running team unless you clowns forgot.

  • JR has coached on two national championship teams, has coached a pro bowl WR, and has coached 3 of our best WR in history.

It is the third day of practice.

Lets step back from the ledge a little bit.

Given no coach said anything about our wr's yesterday, me think you're venting about some perceived issue. All the small wr's need to be able to play the slot, so if we run into a team with great press coverage we have multiple options at the spot that by its design makes press coverage very difficult. Seems smart to me. Call me in three weeks and if they are all normally playing the same spot youight be on to something. Until then there really isn't an issue.

Gurley played slot for a while.

Being able to block well at receiver is a talent

Good thing we've got the best blocker in the country.

And to also be quite frank, best players on the field many times means best blocking WRs. That is not an excuse. That is a fact.

It all depends on the situation, but you must have WRs that can block to have a good running game. Doesn't mean they always have to be on field, but they damn well better be on the field when we are going to run a bunch. You can't just use TEs for what I would think are obvious reasons.

Why not? Rory Anderson and Jarell Adams are as big or bigger than DL Moore and significantly more athletic. Explain to me the obvious reason you can't just trot them out there and watch them plow over some bitch ass corner? Hell they may even catch a couple balls and get open, things DL Moore can't do very well.

How fast is Adams?. How many games have you seen him play? Do you think they are both faster than Moore? Neither is and that does matter. Nevermind making it obvious we are going to run if we just trotted out all tight ends. SEC defenses can stop the run many times if they know that's all that is coming.

I'm confused. Should we just play all tight
ends or just three 5'8" receivers?

Obviously, you don't like D.L. Youve done a nice job of ripping him on a public board

You obviously assume Byrd and Ellington
are two of our three best WRs. I have no way of knowing that's true. Haven't seen it
yet. Even so, this isn't the big 12 or big east. We can't have a base offense of three really short receivers. Just can't.

At the end of the day, I also think you are reacting to a Sotuation that doesn't exist. They will not all play the same position.

Reading comprehension. First off I said TWO best recievers from last year. Even said I give a pass on Byrd in the very first line.

Second, let me get this straight. I want you to read your post out loud to yourself. You're tellling me that Byrd hasn't proven anything to back up the claim you put in my mouth, then proceed to say deedee is better than Ellington? He is ye least proven out of all the recievers who've mention in you post.

DL Moore may not have the best hands and pure receiving skills, but he is athletic as almost anyone on the team. Kid is 6'5" and runs 4.4.
