RG3 runs a 4.38 at combine...

here are a few more stats.

RG3, 3 years in same offense with same team. Cam, 1 year in a gimmicky offense where he learned under fire.

Different offenses... different scenarios... different quarterbacks. I just feel that Cam is and was a much better passer in college than given credit. I like RG3 as a quarterback and I am excited to watch him. However, I think luck is more comparable to cam. It's just that society doesn't like to compare white quarterbacks to black quarterbacks or vice versa.

Cam was next Russell or McNair and RG3 is next Vick (I am guilty as well).

Cam's lack of time in the same offense has much to do with character flaws and maturity. Another area RGIII is far ahead of Cam at this point of his career. The biggest stat for me is more passes and higher percentage completed. RGIII is not Mike Vick. RGIII is a run second QB. RGIII is more comparable to Steve Young coming out of college. Someone who could have played a multitude of other positions, but ultimately is playing the position he is best at.

If he breaks cam's rookie record next year (which i dont see happening) then i will give your argument some credence Mr. Miller. One has to remeber Cam only had one year in his auburn offense while RGIII had three years of his system. I dont not think RGIII will be converted to wr but to say he is a better passer than Cam is a litle premature. I would also argue that even though RGIII had a much better 40 time that Newton is a better (football not track) runner. Obviously i am biased as a panther fan but i think it's obsurd to say RGIII is a better prospect than Cam. I'll take Cam at 6'5 249 anyday of the week and twice on sundays. I know people will disagree with me but this is just my opinon, will all see how it plays out after a year. I also understand the argument that Andrew Luck is a better QB prospect than Cam and if they were to come out the same year i would have wanted to draft Luck. But i disagree when people say if Cam was avaliable this year, even after seeing everything he did his rookie season, they would still take Luck. I know many will disagree with me, but its combine season and i would love to hear other people's opinion.

Cam's lack of time in the same offense is due to his multitude of character flaws. Another thing that neither of the top two qb's have whatsoever. Cam has drawn the ire of his own teammates in Carolina. I like the SEC as much as the next guy, but it will not color my judgment on this issue. RGIII is a better passer at same point in career, and has none of the many character flaws that Scam displayed. Ask Steve Smith how good he thinks Scam is. He has stated that Testaverde and Delhomme are better than him. Talented, no doubt. A world class feminine hygiene product; definitely. He has a lot of ability, he also has a lot of issues he needs to resolve.

He will make a great slot WR or kick returner on the NFL once he is converted from QB.

wow, you know your stuff! haha

Just saw the stats side by side on Luck and Cam at their combines. Almost identical. Had no idea Luck was that athletic.

Ok. You finally made a valid point in this post.

    I, too, was shocked by Luck's athleticism. I thought he'd run a 4.7-4.8 type of 40.

Now you are really showing your ignorance.

If you read the article in it's entirety you would understand Steve Smith's point. Don't just take excerpts and try to make the argument that Steve thinks Delhomme and Testaverde are actually "better". Read the article in it's entirety and you will understand that he is making the point that it is unfair to anoint someone who has "been in the league for 15 minutes. . ." as better than someone who had a long career in the NFL. He was referencing Testes' knowledge of the game and the impact he had on Steve personally and still today as being "better." Steve was never talking about pure talent and ability.

I think you should keep your bias against "Scam," as you call him, in check when attempting to make a reasonable argument. There is something to be said for RGIII "lighting" up Big 12 defenses after 3 years in a system and Cam doing the same against SEC defenses (all the way to a national title) after just 1 year as a starter.

To ignore that is just another example of you manipulating examples to justify your pre-determined opinion. Objectivity is lost on you.
