RGIII's knee looked ugly.

  • Bound to happen. Should have never been playing.

I agree. Cousins should have been playing since the 2nd qtr wnen RG3 re-injured his knee. +1

Agreed. Pretty negligent of the skins.

  • As a Skins fan, I wasn't happy about him playing. He may be good, but he isn't good when he is that limited. That decision may have cost them the game.

All I could think of was how much they gave up to get him in comparison to where Seattle was able to draft Wilson.

  • I bet the Browns wish they would have given up that much to get RG3 rather than get stuck with Brandon Weeden. I would galdly give up those picks again to get a good QB like RG3. Russel Wilson is great but a lot of teams missed the boat on that.

  • I have seen more knee injuries than I wish I had. More than likely he has a torn MCL, maybe an evulsion. Best he can hope for is a 3rd degree sprain. The last 2 weeks he was a hero and his coach was a hero. Now, both are vilified. NFL players do not play unless they are cleared by a doctor and say they want to play. We admire those who play with pain, but they are stupid if they get hurt. The injury rate in football is 100%. Everybody gets nicked up. FB will always be a game where those who play with pain are the most admired by teammates and fans. Where you draw the line is sometimes imperceptible. This is where competent, medical advice, must always be followed, and cannot be overruled. Simple philosophy untill egos, big money, and big wins are factored in.

Not knocking RGIII, just saying that in comparison Wilson was a steal and a much better deal. Hindsight is 20/20 I know, but I said at the time the Skins gave up too much for RGIII. As good as he was this year, I still believe that. He's been great but their depth is going to take huge hits in the next few years. The question is whether his greatness can overcome that. If the Skins don't protect him better and take better care of him, that's going to be hard for him to do.

They couldn't not go after a franchise QB at the top though. They won the division for the 1st time in forever because of RGIII and he finished with the 3rd QB rating. Sure Wilson was the better "deal", but the Skins were not in the position to take a flyer on a guy like Wilson and Seattle was because the had Jackson and were bringing in Flynn. You get a Pro Bowler, top 3 passer and division title in year 1 from the number 2 pick the price can't be considered to high, IMO.

Year 1 being the operative phrase. The proof will be in the years to come as those lack of draft picks kick in. That's when the value of the deal will be determined.

Agree to disagree I guess. The entire offense is under 30 and 9 of the 11 on defense are under 30. I don't see depth being an issue for them. One thing that helped them was hitting on Cousins and Morris in the later rounds.

  • Got to give Dr Andrews props here. He didn't want him in there...and called the coach out for it.

  • If the defensewould have stepped up and the skins pulled it out, RG3 would have been hailed as a gutty super hero a la Willis Reed for the Knicks back in the day. If it had been some no-name right guard under the same scenario no one would care. He'll be fine.

That's great that they have youth (if you're a 'skins fan), but the bigger question should be how long is that youth signed for? I know Snyder throws money around to free agent's like a farmer slops his hogs, but you have to keep the components that are working well at home. Shanahann should be ashamed of himself. Griffin was hurt pretty badly early and now he's got a bad knee injury because they left him out there.

Every team has to worry about resigning players. That is no different than any other team. The point I'm making is that they have a young team to build around and that they didn't marginalize their whole future by making the RGIII trade like other teams have done in the past.
