Right now, Garcia = Post-Jetwash "Maverick"

Without implicating the homo-erotic overtones of "Top Gun" (outlined at the end of the thread linked below), Stephen Garcia at present very closely resembles the post-flat spin/jetwash crash "Maverick" in that film. I'm not going to speculate about what has him shaken, but his confidence/swagger as a talented but unorthodox player is lacking, he's trying to be "safe"/smart too much, and will not "engage" in the passing game. I will leave it to you to decide who is "Sundown"..."Hey man! We coulda had him!" (Alshon? Ace? Nick Jones?)
I think we are seeing from Spurrier the same thing we saw from "Viper" to fix it....keep sending him up there and trying to rebuild his confidence until he gets over whatever it is. Hopefully, he is indeed Mav (and not "Cougar"), and one day soon (hopefully Auburn) he will re-engage and play like his old self. If so, brah-some bro-hugs all around. If not, well... Let's all hope for the happy ending (no homo).

This thread is too funny. I was telling a buddy of mine today that Garcia was playing very Tommy Beecher-ish right now and that his confidence is shot like Maverick after Goose died. He has definitely "lost that lovely feeling" for his quarterbacking skills. Hopefully he will get them back by Saturday!
