Nice article on ESPN's SEC blog showing the importance of a strong ground game in winning the national championship. The last six national champions all ranked 16th or better in the nation in rushing yardage and that's against some of the best defenses in the land in the SEC.
Maybe Elliott should tape this article to all the lockers of the linemen at USC. Schedule-wise this is the easiest path that USC has had to Atlanta for the SEC CG (still not "easy" overall, just in comparison). And while there are other concerns with the team (linebacker, depth in the secondary, some wide receivers to step up and Ellington's status on football), there's no doubt that a strong OL would go a long way toward covering those other weaknesses and give the team a great chance to make it to Atlanta. And if you win the SEC then you'll have a great chance to play for the glass football.
