    Thanks. Just copy/pasted that.

Thought some people would like to see what the different schools do, or don't, put up with.

  • Wow. Look at Florida.

The SEC should just make a uniform policy. I would go with none, 25%, dismissal

  • Ole Miss needs to use their stance on weed to recruit. We have lost some good players that could have made it at Ole Miss, sure other schools have as well.

Come to Ole Miss and smoke all you want.

  • Do the punishments change if the athlete is selling the weed also? What about if the weed is some exotic stuff like from Humboldt County or Thailand? And what if the weed is laced with PCP? And what if the weed was procured from a legal medical marijuana store in some state like Colorado or California? And what if the athlete had a couple of pizzas to go along with the weed? And what if the athlete was willing to share the weed with the fans???

apparently the ultimate rule could be death

    1. A Pennsylvania eighth-grader who became ill after smoking synthetic marijuana and had a double lung transplant has died

    2. The Anderson County Coroner says an Anderson University basketball player died after using fake marijuana ... 19 year old Lamar Jack collapsed at practice on September 30. He died four days later.

I agree they know nothing about it health wise and it isnt safe to use. But the eight grader that died smoked the stuff out of a plastic pez dispenser..that right there will destroy lungs and contains way more chemicals than synthetic marijuana. Also the player that died at practice isnt the first one to do so..it's actually fairly common. Just because he had synthetic marijuana in his system doesnt mean it was the cause of death. I understand the media/govt taking a stand against this stuff because we know so little about it, but I think some of these cases also get blown out of proportion. Why this crap is legal and not actual marijuana is beyond me. Marijuana is safer than alcohol, Rx, and nicotine.

The funny thing about it is that in an article from the upstate on monday, it was claimed that synthetic marijuana was created at Clemson University about 10 years ago. Blame those a$$holes!

'Bath salts,' fake pot haven't taken hold in Clemson, police say » Anderson Independent Mail

Students at Clemson University, the birthplace of the synthetic compounds found in fake pot, have little interest in the new, dangerous drugs that are the focus of national concern

Yep..JWH-018 was synthesized by a Clemson organic chemist. But he's also gone on record to say that anyone who smokes it is a moron. I bet he regrets missing out on the profits..K2 goes for 50 bucks for 3 grams. That's more expensive than real high quality weed.

you are correct in your assessment concerning my response - i was trying to focus on the fake pot and the deaths of the youths by highlighting a couple of news clippings. the evidence of the fake pot being the cause of death was anecdotal and somewhat circumstantial at best.

the former cocaine and marijuana user obama (as noted in his book, "dreams from my father") has reduced the penalties for crack cocaine convictions...perhaps he will do what he can for the decriminalization of marijuana.

  • the question to tie to this is: what is the testing schedule/frequency?

Agreed. Apparently the reduced sentence for crack was because it targeted a certain class/demographic of people. It used to be that crack held a stiffer penalty than cocaine. People didnt find this fair seeing how crack's primary ingredient is cocaine. So they figure the upper class used coke and the lower class smoked crack and it wasnt fair to penalize one more than the other. shrug

The NCAA should have a uniform policy. That way schools like MIchigan can't let prized WR play after failing multiple drug tests. If everyone has the same rule, it would take out a schools lax policy. Think how we could have been with the Predator last year if we didn't kick him out of school.
