Different strokes for different folks.
Look, I used to beat up on SOS for his lack of being 'involved', or being the Saban/Urban 'type'. But, let's get real - SOS is the reason those kids are representing USC in this draft and not another team. And, it's really not that big of a deal.
Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty

I suppose that most college coaches who have players expected to be drafted in the first round aren't at the draft. Spurrier is obviously among those who aren't there. Rather than criticize Spurrier for not being there I'd rather compliment Nick Saban for recognizing an opportunity to enhance his recruiting profile.

I would think that if Stephon or Melvin had asked him to go, he would be there. Other than that, I don't think it is his personality to include himself in stuff like that.
It has nothing to do with an extra recruiting effort, it has to do with a college coach going to an NFL event. Firstly, its not an NCAA event. Secondly, Spurrier does not seek the spotlight like some other guys. I don't think it is a college coach's place to go to the NFL draft.
