I thought he was a good ball player, too, but I think he should've retired a couple years ago.

Don't be sad for him, dude is going to live a long life with 10s of millions of dollars, and have a decent shot at HOF...not a bad life...(not even a braves fan)

Also very well known for being a womanizer. He said he couldn't go to bars because he would make bad decisions while he was married (I think she divorced him). Instead of saying I shouldn't sleep with strangers he said he shouldn't go to bars. Always thought that was weird, like he had no control over himself.

As a life-long Braves fan, I am glad to see him finally hang up the spikes. He is one of my favorite players of all time; however, Chip has been a liability for the past few years. I believe he is getting paid $15M this year. I will guarantee he winds up on the DL at least twice this season.

It is a very sad day for the braves. I think all of us in the south who are Braves fans will always have a special place in our hearts for chipper. hell, i was chipper at least four times for halloween. Chipper deserves to play as long as he wants with all that he has done for the Braves franchise. With that being said, he would have helped the organization out big time if he would have retired last year or the year before. He has one of the biggest contracts for one of the least productive players on the team. Prado will be our future 3rd basemen and if he would have retired we could have gone ahead and made the move while freeing up a bunch of money to land another bat in the outfield. That being said, Its chipper. A first ballot hall of famer, arguably the best switch hitter in the modern era( top 5 all time), and one of the best third basemen to ever play the game ..... so he can do whatever he wants. Chipper has also expressed an interest in being a manager ...... i wouldn't mind seeing him sitting on the bench in some sort of fashion in the future.

Dale Murphy is my all time favorite brave. Chpper will be missed, but will be in the HOF.

I think he was the number one WR coming out of high school. I know he signed with Fla St. to play football as well. He was a great athlete back in the day. Was one of the fastest third basemen around

completely disagree with this, find the braves offensive stats with and without chipper past few years and its easy to see we are a better team with him in the line-up
