Obviously as long as saban is at bama they will be among the elite in the sec...now we've seen where the program can go when they make bad hires..sooo the next topic (almost similar discussion) is what happens when sos retires, do we go for an established homerun hire, an assistant internally or externally, head coach at a small school? We make a wrong hire (ie Dooley to Tenn) we will return to 7-5
Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty

Absolutely not. But no program is immune to mediocraty with a bad hire, bama had shula, tenn Dooley, uf with zook ..it took those programs years to recover (if yet) and a great hire to start winning again. That's what I'm concerned about, we have great momentum and it could change with a bad hire

We're talking 4-5 years down the road. Coaching pool will be very different then, so it's impossible to say. Unless we win the BCS title, Spurrier will be around that long. We'll have a Sugar Bowl win under belt IMO. We'll be one of the top programs open in whichever yr HBC steps down. Too hard to say who we hire at that point.
