Should the new softball coach be fired?

She lost 16 SEC games in a row to conclude the season. Naw, she is just having to start a program from scratch after Compton overstayed her welcome by about 5 years and refused to recruit locally. Give her a couple of years.

I have to say her SEC record is horrid. She needs to show improvement this upcoming year I would think. You can blame Compton and pitchers being hurt for a few years then that rings hollow to me.

Wow, u people r crazy or nuts. Not sure which one. A few years ago we had an awesome pitcher who carried us deep into the tourney. Give her time. I think most have been spoiled. SOS and tanner didnt win big right away. She is a GREAT coaxh but not all the players are SEC talent right now. Give her time.

Rev, I am alright with giving her time just saying product needs to be better than three sec wins next year. I will give her a pass on first two years although the team we threw out there was far from competitive. Just want to see improvement in the sec next year. You can only blame Compton for so long. Three years is time enough to get more than three wins in the league.

I don't follow much women's softball, but I know we ended up with a worse record this year than last year, and I didn't think that was possible. I also hear that the best players from South Carolina are still looking elsewhere in the SEC rather than South Carolina. I hope this new coach can close down I-20 and I-26 West.

MCR, I have to agree with everything you say. I am not calling for her head just saying we want more than three wins in the league next year. The Compton excuse isn't in play anymore.

I guess you have to consider that the SEC is loaded in women's softball to boot. Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, LSU are stacked with UK just outside the top 25. It doesn't get better with Texas A&M and Missouri being top 15 teams as well.

There was a time not long ago when South Carolina was one of the best teams east of the Mississippi. Compton made June Raines seem aggressive in terms of her lackadaisical approach to the last decade of her career. She sat back and watched as the entire SEC by-passed us. Like I said, I'm not a big softball fan, but I like to see well paid coaches working hard, not sitting around fat and happy. I like the new coach, but another year like this one will be unacceptable.

The Upstate is loaded right now. If she has any sense she will get up their in a hurry. I can tell you that Alabama, UK, and UT are sniffing around in the Upstate but at this point very little sign of South Carolina.
