Sidney Rice will become a Free Agent

Yeah but those two WR combos you listed played for teams with little to no running game. Atl has a good running game. Atl is very balanced on offense with Roddy, Turner and Gonzalez. They really don't need much else star wise, IMO.

Think Edgerrin James may have led the league or come close to it multiple times while those two were racking up huge numbers.

Edge had one bigtime year and that was it. It is more of an anomaly than anything. Look at them since. Point is Indy and Atlboth have very difference offenses. Atl is not a good fit for Sidney or Atl.

I would love it. But I would think Sid wants to get somewhere warm. I could see Dallas, Indy (indoors, but what happens when Peyton's gone?), New Orleans...

I don't know about that, the Falcons desperately need another WR. Having Sidney would only make them that much better at that position and would allow them to save Turner's legs for the playoffs.

I disagree with you about the Falcons needs. And I think it is a very poor fit for Sidney. NE and SD are the top two places for Sidney right now. Great QBs, no elite WR on the roster, and both teams are on the verge of competing for Super Bowls.

Atlanta has Roddy who isn't going anywhere and as I have already stated in the thread, their offense is designed around being balanced. I am not sure where Rice fits in, they don't have a need for a possession WR when they have Gonzo at TE, and again White on the outside. Not to mention Turner's legs in the running game. If I were a GM for the Falcons I would look at signing/drafting a RB to spell Turner. Not to mention they are not going to pay Sidney what he wants.

The Bears could use him that's for sure. But I think it is not a good place for Sidney. But that is because I don't trust Cutler's attitude.

I think without a doubt the best two places are SD and NE. But as stevecook said, where ever the money is is where he is going to go. And I highly doubt Atlanta is going to pay him the big bucks.

Oh and for the rest of you homers out there saying the Panthers...are you on crack? They have Steve Smith, no QB, and aren't spending any money. So it is a bad idea that holds no water IMO. Same with Atlanta.

Greenbay has Jennings, Driver, Nelson, Finley, Grant, and Starks to go along with A Rog.

Falcons have White, Turner, and Gonzalez to go along with Ryan. Snelling is a great backup RB who has huge games when Turner is out.

Which team has more weapons? I don't see how Sidney going to ATL would be a bad thing for either side. I agree that they might not pay him what he wants, but I don't think it is out of the question for a team that needs help specifically at the WR position. Granted, they need more help on D than on O...

Agreed with the Panthers although they could sign Rice, then trade Deangelo and a couple of picks for Carson Palmer. But we all know that will never happen.

As a former Panthers fan I like that idea(I am looking for a reason to become a fan again after the Delhomme debacle), but yeah it isn't going to happen.

As for Atlanta I guess we will have to agree to disagree. You mentioned Green Bay, they have one old man in Driver, their star in Jennings, and the other guys while good are young and don't demand the big money, at least not yet. Also, let's be fair, even with Grant healthy GB's running game is no where near that of Atlanta's. In fact, this past year's GB team mirrored many of Indy's team when they had no running game. So I do not think that is a fair comparison at all.

I like Snelling as a backup, but IMO they need someone else of an elite stature. Not saying they will go after one in free agency but Atlanta would be better of with more of a one-two punch ion the running game, not the passing game. And I don't think Snelling is the answer for that role, again IMO. You asked which team has more weapons, a fair question. I would say GB for obvious reasons, but they are not a balanced offense like Atlanta. Which is why I think Atlanta doesn't have the need for another elite WR and that they will not pay Sidney like he sees fit. And if your question was "who had more weapons during the playoffs" I would say it was split pretty even(Grant being out). It is all about money at the end of the day, for the team and the player. Atlanta won't pay him top dollar, IMO, and it isn't a great fit from an offensive philosophy standpoint. I just don't think there are enough down field balls for both White and Rice in that offense. JMHO.

Again, NE is the best place for Sidney if they will pay him. San Diego is a close second. Both have a need and both may be willing to pay him top dollar. I think it is best for Sidney if he can get the money he wants to go to one of those two franchises.

You speak the truth. My bias for the Falcons and Sidney wants the two to join forces, but it probably won't happen. As for being a Panthers fan, I am sorry. I am originally from Atlanta so I have always been a Falcons fan, but moved to Charlotte many moons ago. All of my good friends are Panthers fans and I know how frustrating it is. I can't imagine being a Gamecock and Panther fan for one's entire life...then again I'm a Gamecocks/Falcons fan so I don't have it much better.

Grew up a Falcons fan but adopted the Panthers when they came to Charlotte, just because of proximity. When they signed Delhomme to that big deal after the playoff run a couple of seasons ago, which Delhomme single handily ended, I dropped them as my favorite NFL team. Been pulling for Indy and GB for the last couple of years, as I always liked both franchises as a kid. Still like the Falcons but feel like a traitor for dropping them for the Panthers. If you think you feel bad for me, you should really feel bad for my buddy who is both a Gamecock and a Cubs fan.....pure torture.

And I can't blame any NFL fan who wants Sidney on their team. The fact that I really don't have a team makes it easy for me to see this from Sidney's perspective.

    MrNiceGuy

  • Heck, while we're at it, go to Washington. He will certainly get paid. Maybe the Skins will get a good qb who can get him the ball.

As for Chicago, do yall think Cutler will be able to bounce back from his massive knee injury? I mean it took him out of the Super Bowl (enter comments on his big va-jay-jay).

I really would like to see Sidney play somewhere he can really show off his talent (indy, new england).
