Smart and Marshall...

Marshall has built two programs that were down. Smart was an asst coach that took over a program that was up similar to Darin Horn at WKU.. Food for thought.

Smart made it to a final four. Pretty solid if you ask me. I would take him over Marshall because we know he can recruit at a big school.

Smart has gotten a lot of recruiting help on TV the past year. Isn't that what we crucified Hyman for, Hiring a coach off of one tourney run?

We all have our opinions. I would rather have a guy that has proven he can do it at two places than a guy who has taken over anothers recruits and won with them. Smart may be really really good, but i think he is a bigger gamble. I have no problem if others disagree, I can see the intrigue with Shaka.

Both are very good coaches and we would be lucky to have either. We have no shot at Smart though.

What? VCU has 9 freshmen, RSFreshmen or Soph's all recruited by Smart and 1 SR - I think those are HIS one SR and a bunch of freshmen beating a bunch of Srs. By the way, has Marshall EVER had a big dance run?

He's coached at Winthrop until this year.. When anyone makes a big dance run at Winthrop please let me know

Smart won this year with guys he recruited. I think he has proven he is an excellent coach. Id pay whatever it took to get him. He is exactly what we need.

You could make that argument at any number of low major or mid major schools.

Totally agree. Both teams play tenacious defense, which can make it difficult to execute smoothly on offense.
Both teams play extremely hard, don't back down, and the game could have gone either way. I think both coaches are excellent.

Pretty certain this is Marshall's 3rd year maybe 4th at WSU. He won the NIT last year at WSU.
