So Ellington decided to ride the Titanic, who's returning kicks?

  • Easy answer is Byrd but he didn't look all the elusive to me, more like a Culliver straight ahead burner type guy.
    So who's it gonna be?
    Ace?
    Shaq?

  • I think Hampton should get a look

Makes me nervous having a corner back there. We are so thin it seems like every year.

    This.

Shaq will get a shot too I'm sure. I think D.J. is too essential to our D to put him out there.

Yes, he also suggested Tanner English. So I think it will be the dog and English, not bad iyam.

  • D. Byrd

  • Byrd, sanders, jones. We got players. I think he saw that he wasnt going to play much cause of othet talented receivers we have and made the choice for him. Good luck in basketball and hope he can make in pros in europe.

  • Not sure, but the position is changed with the rules changes.

  • I wonder if Sheldon Royster or Ahmad Christian could get a look. Shawn Carson for that matter.. The team is so deep with talent who knows..

he saw the field a good bit with alshon. he was the wildcat qb and best return man on the roster. he would have opportunities on the field next year

Sorry but BE was our 2nd best offensive weapon. It was a huge loss. As Britbrant pointed out it wasn't just reciever he contributed in special teams and as wildcat QB.

Christian can fly but obviously he's an unknown, Carson won't get a look because of his injury.

I don't think he was bigger weapon then Shaw or Alshon. You can make an argument for Wilds and Miles contributions last year as well. It would be nice to have him but I don't think the loss is that huge.

I don't know if we even need a wild cat QB now that Shaw has taken over. Also he was behind Ace and Byrd. I agree he was a good returner but we have options there.

If I never see the WildCock again it will be to soon for me.......

How about this for an answer - any one of the 30 guys that can play receiver, running back, DB

When are we as fans going to get it that this isn't the old days when our success depended on one player? Didn't losing Lattimore or Garica prove anything to any of you guys? SO I guess next it will be Ellington would have been a bigger loss than Lattimore.

Ellington was a good player on a very good team full of good players. Had Jeffery and Brent not been pegged for red shirt years, I have my doubts as to how much he would have played this past season. That's not putting him down just my opinion that based on what the coaches were saying those two were just as talented.

Good luck with BB, Mr. Ellington

  • We'll be fine at that position that's for sure.

  • I don't think Ace can catch kickoffs, otherwise he would have been out there already.

Hampton has looked pretty good except for the fumbles.

Byrd looked hesitant but I think that was due to the four games he had to sit out, so I'm reserving judgement until after this year.

Is Shaq fast enough? Can Carson return kicks?

Swearinger was solid, but nothing special.

I think it will be Hampton and Byrd to start the year. If Hampton has fumble issues then I think they put Carson back there.

Byrd not elusive? One thing you have to remember with Byrd is that he glides. He has such a smooth stride that he doesn't appear to be going as fast as he is. He is very elusive, can cut and all that. The times he got the ball were on speed sweeps, and he was just trying to outrun guys to the corner, but he has moves.

I like Vic Hampton. That guy is EXPLOSIVE. He has fumbling issues, though, so the coaches may be scared of him.

I was just fantasizing with the Tanner English idea, but if he put on weight, I think he would be dangerous. His speed is very close to Byrd's speed. I don't think there is a chance in hell he tries it though.

My dog is even faster than Byrd. She would have to be sedated in order to put a helmet on her though. Just putting a harness on her to take her for a walk can be quite eventful. Fumbling would not be an issue, however. If we could somehow get a special made helmet to accommodate for her carrying the ball in her mouth, she would never fumble. She can run around with a basketball in her mouth. I am in the process of putting a highlight tape of me chasing her around the backyard, and will send it to Jr. I am also going to include an episode of her chasing the neighbors cat up a tree, she showed an excellent burst, and took good pursuit angles. I will update as soon as I hear anything in regard to any academic issues, or when an offer is made. As of right now, she is getting mild interest from Auburn and Ga Tech. The Dawg's will be the team to beat, I fear. Elliot is her recruiter of record, and he has the inside track, as well as some help from family members. He also knows that she really likes string cheese. I expect Coastal Carolina to offer any day now. Size is the only issue, as she is about 65 lbs. Get her in a good s/c program, and who knows?

I was worried that her test scores would hold her back. Then I started thinking that if Bellamy got in klimpson, it will be no problem for her. Bellamy has been taught to 'sit' and 'stay', but seems to be resisting their efforts in this regard. He also has to be kept on a short leash whenever he goes outside.

hopefully, with a good enough D, we don't have to field too many KO's a game. Punt returns are the major issue IMO.
