So What was Wilds' injury

  • anyone?

    Cockeyes

  • I don't think there was really an injury. He had a mild something or another and was ok to play but Miles had gone in and had the "hot hand" as Spurrier put it, and Miles is a senior and it all just fit...

    ..and the rest is history.

    CockyMike1

  • OK, Derek Scott said he had a somethingy something so fast on the radio I could not make it out

    Cockeyes

  • He wiffed on a block that ended up in a sack on Connor Shaw. He didn't play after that.

Uh...I dont thing you can lay that all on him. Watch the play. Our tight end and left tackle are blocking no one and wilds is left to block someone 40 lbs heavier? sorry....even the announcers called that one as being the tight ends fault if not also the tackle. Could see the tackle staying in but the tight end should have been out there with wilds.

Just have to call that a "team effort" then, because he completely missed, and no matter who was supposed to pick the DE up, he was there to protect Connor's blind side. I'm on record all season and pre-season as being among the biggest Brandon Wilds' fans, but he was clearly off his usual game last night. before the missed block, he ran into the back of Matulis and went down like someone had shot him. IMO, Spurrier and Coach Graham saw this and said "Let's give Kenny a shot and see what happens," and to Kenny's credit, he made the most of it.

It's ok and no indication of what we can expect from Wilds in the future, it happens, and thank goodness we have some quality depth at a thin position and it worked out in grand style!

While it's true, he didn't play after that particular play, the sack isn't completely on him. If the blocking assignment was his 100%, then that play call is on the coaches. More likely a busted assignment, imo.

  • I actually thought I did see him come back in for a play or two after that sack Connor took.

Regardless of who's fault it may or may not have been BW did whiff and he was the last line to protect CS. BW just had an off night not a big thing since there wasn't a TO nor and injury (did . Miles stepped in and played like you'd like a SR who's run through clemtech before to play. Our backfield future is so bright someone needs to invent a new kind of sun glasses to see it with out eye damage.

He absolutely did play the next series after that sack and had a couple of decent runs.

He didn't play nearly as bad as some make it sound. I know he missed two cuts where he could have gotten another yard or two, but it wasn't as if he was completely ineffective.

He was he last guy on the field after halftime and came out with the trainers four minutes after the rest of the team. Spurrier said today he had a little something wrong
    with him.
