Sorta OT - anyone know why Bellamy was.....

  • suspended at bowl. My Clemson buddies (yes I have friends from Clemson) tell my pulling a fire alarm and smoking dope in his room. My question is, if a coach finds a player smoking dope in his room (I suppose committing a crime?) would he not be expected to notify the proper authorities?
    Again, I don't know if this happened, but it's Clemson people telling me this, so I just wonder did the coaches give him coffee, flush the stuff and send him home the next day - or maybe once again,"we done smoked it" before the coaches got there or maybe he was sent home for entirely different reasons. Or maybe Dabo took it back to his room and burned one with Mom?

    No reason to call the cops, they travel with em!!! Every school travels with state police from their state. If he wasn't a football player he would have been arrested and taken downtown

    That's a legit question...but FYI, there are so many bong junkies on here that defend anyone, including Sammy potkins for smoking weed that I am surprised they can read a post, because most of them can barely
    write one.

    A friend of mine who is close to the Clemson athletic administration told me that Bellamy smoked so much weed that it set off the automatic sprinkers as well as the alarm, and that the hotel had to br evacuated.
    That was in Charlotte the night before the ACC championship game -- not the Orange Bowl.

    Depends on who caught you. I doubt anyone's parents sent them to jail for the minor indiscretions of their youth.

    I do not smoke weed...but I'm not naive enough to realize this is a widespread issue on college campuses. Be careful pointing fingers at others...we could very well lose some of our best stars for this same thing.

    Most sprinkler system in hotels are known as a "wet pipe" system and have a heat module that sets off individual sprinkler heads. The module in the sprinkler head heats up, breaks and releases a small "Valve" that releases the water, thus, only the head that is being heated by fire will go off. There are other types of sprinkler systems that read the air like a smoke detector, but those are usually used for Halon gas protected areas, like computer and/or equipment rooms. The water moving through the pipes is detected by a flow meter and sets off a whole system alarm.

    There are two basic types of smoke detectors and without a long winded explanation, the kind of detector that is widely used detects particles in the air through an electrical charge. Things that you smoke, cigars, cigarettes and weed have most of these particles filtered out in your lungs when you smoke and traditionally won't set off an ionization smoke detectors. Airlines use Photoelectric smoke detectors in bathrooms which are much more sensitive and WILL set off with tobacco products smoke.

    Thanks for the explanation. Obviously something happened at the hotel involving Bellamy smoking weed, but the story probably got embellished.
