Source: Penn State to be hit with fines in excess of $30 million

CNN) -- Penn State University will be hit with fines in excess of $30 million as part of "significant, unprecedented penalties" expected to be announced Monday by the National Collegiate Athletic Association, a source familiar with the case told CNN on Sunday.
While the school's football program will not face the so-called "death penalty" that would have prevented the team from playing in the fall, the school might have preferred a one-year suspension because of the severity of the scholarship losses, postseason sanctions and other penalties, the source said.

What do people think the bowl ban should/will be?
I'm guessing 4 years.

this is stupid. This is a legal issue and should be handled by the legal system. The NCAA has no business doing this.

They covered it up to protect the football team. I think it is valid. Penn St football is the reason this stuff was allowed to continue, I think it is fair that they get punished.

Actually the NCAA bylaws state that all member institutions are held to ethical standards and they can act if said ethical standards are broken.
So, I'll ask you, do you think anything unethical went on at Penn State?

To Sandy DAMN RIGHT and for the last 2 posters before OORAH
PSU shoulda been banished to the MAC and had a pemanent restriction on schollies.
We, franlky, and this includes all other schools as well; have let the SPORTS of Football and basketball go waaaay crazy in the last 40 years. The NCAA aint the governmnet bu is a controlling body and it is high time that they began reigning this craziness in. Ou simple crap was peanuts and crap over procedural junk every time, so was most universities except USC.
This is Heinous Crime that was allowed to promulgate over decades....AWFUL
